Cargo is seeking an individual with proven leadership experience and a high level of accountability for driving performance while creating unforgettable customer experiences to join our team as a Manager - Cargo Operations at JFK. The successful candidate will lead a diverse team of Cargo professionals, administrative support personnel, and business partners. The candidate must be a composed, approachable, and visible leader with the skill to build high-performing teams through inclusion, consensus and creativity. The Manager - Cargo Operations is responsible for driving safety improvements, strengthening our strategy around service recovery, enhancing the customer experience through differentiated, world-class service, and managing a large operation during high-stress situations.
Summary of responsibilities (not comprehensive of all tasks):
Ensures a smooth, safe and secure operation, emphasizing safety, collaboration and customer service consistent with the Delta brand
Models Delta's vision and values while maintaining and improving methods of communication with the team
Responsible for the DASH operation at LGA
Manages JFK's Cargo warehouse vendor
Develops operating plan for the station and identifies if capital plan is needed
Accountable for all internal and external regulatory matters, acts as the key communicator of timely and accurate information
Manages costs and executes on budget targets throughout the year to ensure company financial objectives are met
Develops both strategic and tactical plans that create a safety conscious environment that results in employee safety and well-being
Monitors for at-risk behaviors through daily safety observations and ensures adherence to the station Safety Business Plan
Develops business cases to support station projects and communicate benefits both financial and experiential
Promotes and upholds the Delta culture visible leadership - individual and group and verbal as well as written communication - in order to promote Delta corporate goals and workplace initiatives
Inspires and motivates employees to do their best, champions change and leads strategically to inspire thought processes and decision making
Responsible for the leadership development of direct reports through mentoring, on-the-job training, and delegation, and continually provides targeted support, guidance, coaching and motivation based on individual needs
Measures and analyzes performance of direct reports using performance management tools, available customer service and operational metrics, job shadowing, and direct observation
Provides station-wide communications on the status of performance and acts as the subject matter expert at all times of station activities
Makes sound decisions with positive results
Leads by example to ensure distinctive customer service is delivered to every Delta customer and resolves issues for customers regarding service failures or other complaints
What you need to succeed (minimum qualifications)
Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in leadership positions
Must have experience successfully managing a diverse work group
Should be highly motivated, self-directed, proactive, and have the ability to work effectively under pressure and time constraints
Should have a thorough knowledge of Delta operational procedures and policies
Must be able to analyze data and performance measurements
Must have the ability to influence others and drive change
Must set high standards of performance for self and others and must be able to guide others in adhering to these standards
Must be able to interact comfortably with passengers, Delta personnel, other airline personnel, Delta business partners, contract agencies/personnel, and personnel from federal agencies
Must be able to identify, evaluate, and refine functional results to improve the customer experience
Must have a strong analytical background; excellent written and verbal skills; be multi-task oriented; and exhibit strong organization skills
Must have prior experience encouraging and following safety/security rules and guidelines, as well making quick, prudent decisions
Must be able to delegate responsibility; possess a strong customer service orientation; and have flexibility and personal stamina, in order to sustain long working hours in a constantly changing environment
Must be performing satisfactorily in current position
Consistently prioritizes safety and security of self, others, and personal data
Embraces diverse people, thinking, and styles
Possesses a high school diploma, GED, or high school equivalency
Must be at least 18 years of age and have authorization to work in the United States
What will give you a competitive edge (preferred qualifications)
Bachelor's Degree in business management or related fields
Previous experience navigating a matrixed environment
Previous experience managing Cargo /Above-Wing and/or Below-Wing operations
Knowledge of airline or logistic industry operations

Pay Range: $89500.00-$245100.00 annually
