We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer to support structural analysis activities for reactor pressure vessel and internal components in the advanced nuclear business. You will work closely with a diverse technical team to perform engineering analyses that demonstrate compliance with the ASME BPVC Section III and generate dynamic loads due to seismic and large pipe break. This position provides the opportunity to work on safety-critical components and contributes to the development and deployment of Small Modular Reactor (SMR) technologies. You will also collaborate with cross-disciplinary Engineering Teams to ensure successful execution of assigned engineering tasks in support of the SMR projects.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Execute the analysis of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements.
Perform structural and stress analyses for reactor pressure vessels and internal components using finite element analysis (FEA) tools and closed form equations.
Develop and run ANSYS models to evaluate both mechanical and thermal stresses under various service level conditions.
Perform engineering evaluations to demonstrate compliance with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section III, primarily Subsection NG, with some exposure to NB, NCD, and NF requirements.
Generate dynamic loads for the reactor pressure vessel and other components due to earthquake and large pipe break.
Prepare technical reports, calculation packages, and documentation supporting regulatory and design requirements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design engineers, system engineers, project managers, and external partners.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
At least 1 year of experience performing structural analysis (internship experience may be considered)
Minimum of 1 year of experience conducting finite element analysis (FEA), including evaluation of mechanical and thermal loadings, preferably using ANSYS Workbench or APDL (internship experience may be considered).

Desired Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Nuclear Engineering
Experience in the nuclear power industry or with nuclear safety-related systems.
Programming or data analysis experience using tools such as MATLAB or Python.
Familiarity with engineering codes and standards, particularly ASME BPVC Section III.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to clearly document engineering analyses and communicate technical findings through reports and presentations.
Experience preparing engineering calculations and technical documentation to support regulatory or design reviews.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $72,000.00 and $108,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.
Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
