Job Description
The Department of Language, Literature, and Arts seeks a part-time, adjunct for the Integrated Reading and Writing program. The position will begin in Fall 2026 and compensation will be $3,000 per 3 credit hours of teaching. The main teaching assignment is teaching corequisite courses with 4-credit hour and 6-credit hour course pairing options. Corequisite course pairings generally consist of First Year Composition ENGL 1301L and the supporting Integrated Reading and Writing course, either ENGL 1300 or ENGL 1101, and are capped at 18 students. Teaching of Composition II and Technical Writing may also be expected during the Spring semesters. Courses will be mostly taught face-to-face on our campus and are predominantly taught during daytime hours. Some courses may be for Early College High School and Dual Credit Students. Limited sections may be offered in the evening or online synchronously as well. Course times vary.
Required Education and Experience:
A Master's degree (MA) in English or a closely related field from a regionally accredited institution.
A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in English or Reading (combined).
A minimum of one year college or university teaching experience.
Experience teaching developmental education or summer programming.
Preferred Education and Experience:
A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Reading and 18 graduate credit hours in English.
A minimum of one year at secondary level as an English Teacher or Reading Specialist.
ABD or Complete Ph.D. in English or related field preferred.
Experience or interest in teaching non-traditional and first-generation students.
Experience or interest in active learning and collaborative learning strategies.
Experience with contemporary instructional technologies such as learning management systems and e-portfolios preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent oral, written communication, and presentation skills.
Ability to work cooperatively with faculty and staff, ability to respond promptly to queries from students, faculty, and staff.
