GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
This position provides intensive case management and determines eligibility, including ongoing case maintenance, for public assistance programs such as SNAP, POWER, and Child Care. The role supports individuals and families with complex needs in achieving stability and self-sufficiency.
Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing individualized service plans, coordinating services, and maintaining accurate and timely case records.
This position also provides support to staff through coaching, mentoring, and training, and assists supervisors with caseload distribution, quality assurance, and reporting functions.
Additional duties include collaborating with community partners, responding to policy and eligibility inquiries, and preparing documentation and testimony for administrative hearings.

Determining eligibility for SNAP, POWER, and/or child care assistance, along with providing intensive case management to individuals/families with complex needs, is designed to promote stability and self-sufficiency.
Have knowledge of and coordinate access to a broad range of Agency and community resources.
Act as a coaching/mentoring resource for workers by specifically providing guidance, work direction, and identifying and implementing best practices.
Conduct quality assurance reviews and examine trends to improve the accuracy and quality of casework. Responds to questions regarding benefit/economic assistance from the general public.
Coordinates services with outside agencies/sources.
Identifies training needs and assists with training development.
Qualifications
PREFERENCES:
Preference may be given to candidates with 3 or more years of progressive work experience, typically in Benefits and Eligibility.

Knowledge of SNAP, POWER (TANF), Child Care Assistance, and other programs available in the State, with an understanding of agency programs and community resources, and how to access programs and resources. Ability to comprehensively assess the needs and strengths of clients/families and make decisions about the need for intensive case management supports.
Computer literacy and the ability to use word processing and tables/mathematical software.
Knowledge of and ability to communicate and interact with individuals who have cognitive, emotional, and/or physical disabilities.
Knowledge of evidence-based practices related to intensive case management, such as motivational interviewing. Ability to maintain positive working relationships with community partners and stay updated on community resources as they change over time.
Mathematical knowledge and ability to make basic and/or algebraic calculations without error. Leadership skills such as mentorship, coaching, and support.
Clear, concise, and grammatically correct verbal and written communication.
Ability to analyze and apply correct policy and procedure to diverse cases and client circumstances so that cases are completed without error.

Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility)
OR
Education & Experience Substitution:
3-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Benefits and Eligibility)

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying light items, driving an automobile, etc.
Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Occasional in-state travel may be required
