Job Summary
The primary responsibilities of this position involve didactic, laboratory, and clinical teaching responsibilities in the dental hygiene program. Faculty plan and deliver student instruction following approved syllabi, curriculum, and program standards. Duties include curriculum design and development; instruction, recruitment, and advisement of students. Correlation of clinical education with didactic education using approved curriculum format; evaluation of students in the clinical setting and periodic review and revision of clinic course materials and manuals annually. Courses will be a combination of face-to-face, online, or hybrid as necessary. Duties also include participation in college committees and participation in professional enhancement. Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives. Requests and maintains supplies and equipment. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues. Faculty provide support as well as work effectively with colleagues. Other responsibilities include service to the department and college participating on committees and in professional development activities that demonstrate career goals that are consistent with the College's mission.

Instruction
Clinical, laboratory, and didactic instruction.
Provides instruction in theory and practical applications of the discipline in accordance with academic state standards.
Instructs courses in a classroom/lab/clinic/field environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry.
Utilizes current technology in the classroom/lab/clinic.
Evaluates students' progress in attaining goals and objectives.
Grades all coursework in a timely manner.
Provides student support and advising.
Maintains office hours weekly.
Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the discipline area Meets with students, staff members and other educators to discuss students' instructional programs and other issues.
Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline.
Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports.
Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the discipline.
Attends professional development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
Curriculum/Student Learning Outcomes/Accreditation (when applicable)
Develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals and objectives.
Prepares lesson plans for instruction.
Works collaboratively with faculty within discipline to establish, measure and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success and submits to appropriate program chair/director.
Submits reports and data with respect to accrediting bodies.
Reviews and edits master course shells in the online learning platform as necessary.
Participates in faculty calibration exercises and mentoring of faculty.
Attends faculty meetings as scheduled.
Completes required bloodborne pathogens, medical emergency, and teaching methodology as requested annually.
Supports Program Chair/Program Director/Division Deans/Associate Deans
Requests and maintains supplies and equipment.
Prepares budget requests.
Assists with recruitment, retention and job placement efforts.
Serves on department and collegiate committees and project assignments as necessary.

This job operates in a professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment and technologies related to the instructional environment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products, supplies, and instructional books and technology up to 25 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time instructional position. Work load is Monday-Friday day/evening hours. Weekends based on need.
Travel
Travel to other campuses is a possibility for teaching assignments, meetings, training, and professional development.
Required Education and Experience
State of Georgia licensed Dental Hygienist
Three (3) years of full-time clinical experience in dental hygiene
Bachelor's degree or higher in Dental Hygiene or a related field from an accredited institution
BLS for Healthcare Provides certification
Note: Experience may substitute for academic coursework dependent upon the discipline on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Education and Experience
Teaching experience at the postsecondary level
Knowledge of Blackboard LMS or other online LMS
Master's degree from an accredited institution
