Overview
As a Software Engineer IV, you will architect the future of enterprise operations-combining AI-powered automation with strategic technical leadership to transform how our organization delivers technology at scale. The Enterprise Application portfolio includes Oracle E-Business Suite, Vertex, WebCenter, Frontier, SAP Business Objects, Alteryx, R-Studio, Staffbase, and OAM SSO.

Responsibilities
Application Support: Ensure application integrity by monitoring for system failures, performance issues, and accessibility challenges, promptly correcting issues and establishing automated monitoring systems. Leverage AI-driven predictive analytics to identify issues before they impact users, deploying intelligent automation to significantly reduce manual intervention.
Innovation and Research: Champion AI-first innovation by leading the exploration and integration of generative AI, machine learning tools, and intelligent automation frameworks. Evaluate cutting-edge LLM applications, autonomous monitoring solutions, and AI-assisted development tools-positioning our stack at the technological vanguard. Identify and propose solutions for technical debt. You'll have dedicated time and budget to experiment with emerging AI technologies.
Documentation: Build living documentation systems powered by AI assistants that automatically update as code changes, generate @contextual help, and provide intelligent search capabilities. Develop and maintain quick-reference documentation for new features, ensuring updates are made as changes occur.
Technical Assistance: Provide third-level assistance in software and system support to resolve complex issues, utilizing AI copilots and automation scripts you've developed to accelerate resolution.
Team Collaboration: Ensure team compliance with documentation best practices, promoting cross-training and skill-building.
Stakeholder Engagement: Gain proficiency in stakeholder processes, analyzing business unit requirements to propose and implement solutions aligned with best practices.
Project Leadership: Act as a Project Lead, attending meetings, understanding requirements, ensuring task completion, and creating solutions according to project schedules.
Process and Cost Management: Research and implement cost-effective, automation-first solutions that meet company support, change processes, and directional goals. If you've done it twice, you should be automating it.
Vendor Liaison: Serve as primary contact for technical issues, coordinating vendor roadmap discussions and solution integration opportunities.
Environment Management: Manage development, test & product environments, coordinating patch updates and system upgrades.
Continuous Improvement: Apply AI-enhanced Continuous Process Improvement methods to all work, particularly in solution design and development, driving the creation and implementation of best practices across the team. Eliminate toil through intelligent tooling.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or 5 years of equivalent experience.
Hands-on experience with AI/LLM tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, etc.) for code generation, debugging, and process automation-we expect you to work AI-first.
Passion for automation-first thinking and track record of eliminating toil through intelligent tooling.
Proficiency in Linux administration, Python, and shell scripting.
Strong understanding of networking basics, including network topology, firewalls, load balancers, and TLS/SSL certificates.
Experience with Single Sign-On (SSO), Active Directory (AD), OAuth, and other authentication protocols.
Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML, and JSON is highly preferred.
Experience with web services, API, REST, and SOAP is highly desirable.
Familiarity with Oracle ERP, E-Business Suite, and SaaS applications is desirable.
Knowledge of Agile development processes is preferred.
Experience with Nightwatch automation is a plus.
Understanding of Enterprise Data Architecture principles and best practices.
Experience with Oracle Database and PL/SQL is a plus.
Any (Oracle, AWS, Azure) Cloud Foundations certification is a plus.
Compensation
In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
