Job Description Summary
The Senior Manufacturing Engineering Leader will lead a team of manufacturing engineers supporting GE Aerospace internal shops and suppliers aligning to conventional machining technologies. This role aligns team tasks and projects with GE Aerospace priorities and the FLIGHT DECK lean operating model. The leader is responsible for setting performance measures, providing tools (processes, standards, training), and driving continuous improvement in these areas. Additionally, the leader supports escalations by ensuring resources and direction are available and senior leadership is actively informed. The leader will actively participate in projects to execute, learn, and train team members to standards. This role involves supporting the development and execution of a strategy to modernize and scale our manufacturing processes across GE Aerospace and improve new product introduction (NPI) cycles and quality. Key elements within this strategy will involve expanding our machining process capability, supporting the integration of automation systems and methods, and introducing technologies and methods to increase safety, process control, and cycle reduction. This role requires a strategic mindset, in-depth understanding of machining operations, and a proven track record for leading technical teams through NPI programs with significant production ramps and similar technical project execution.

Roles and Responsibilities
Inspire and coach the team to work collaboratively, continuously improve team standards, processes, and execution of technical solutions for their customers. Develop team members by providing training, mentorship and opportunities for skill-building in conventional machining technologies. Foster a culture of respect, inclusivity, and transparency, encouraging open communication and collaboration
Set clear performance measures and track progress using key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure targets are met. Ensure team tasks and projects align with organizational priorities and the FLIGHT DECK lean operating model. Create and manage Operating Rhythm to review, validate, and support ongoing projects. Conduct regular self-evaluations and assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
Lead functional teams and projects with moderate resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Present business or technical discipline solutions to leaders. Communicate complex messages and negotiate mainly internally with others to adopt a different point of view. Influence peers to take action and may negotiate with external partners, vendors, or customers
Provide the team with the necessary tools, processes, standards, and training to maintain high performance in conventional machining technologies. Support escalations by ensuring team members have the resources and direction needed to continue their work. Document and maintain the best-known practices for performing the team's work. Regularly review adherence to standard work through Genba visits and assessments
Partner with manufacturing sites, Lean Labs, other technical teams within GE Aerospace and across Aerospace Supply Chain to standardize machine platforms, work holding, tooling and inspection methods, etc.
Maximize the use of automation and process control methods available within our existing equipment to achieve stable, capable processes with low manual intervention
Provide input into the technology and automation roadmaps, and manufacturing pyramid
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 4 years of experience in manufacturing/engineering.)
Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering
Desired Characteristics
Demonstrated success in leading technical teams within a manufacturing environment
In depth understanding of conventional machining, manufacturing and inspection processes used within GE Aerospace and the aerospace supply chain
Successful implementation of NPI programs or similar large scale technical projects into full-rate manufacturing production
Prior Manufacturing Engineering or Quality Engineering roles relevant to conventional machining and aerospace hardware production
Experience within a high-volume, high mix, production environment
In-depth understanding of GD&T, datum structures, CAD2CAM, etc. that are required for producibility discussions
Strong project management and facilitation skills
Experience in building new organizational capabilities and establishing standard work
Understanding of process capability and statistical methods
Six sigma certification(s) or strong awareness of principles
Ability to travel

The base pay range for this position is $136,000-$181,000 USD Annual. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary. This posting is expected to close on 04/28/26.
