THE POSITION

The Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer (General) ready to use your skills and play a key role in leading and managing essential Abandoned Mine Land (AML) projects. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for independently planning and developing AML Reclamation Projects and classifying AML problems. Your duties will entail evaluating environmental resources in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to successfully obtain AML project's consultations and environmental clearances. Typical resources that may be present on a project may include historic and cultural resources, hydrology, vegetation, fish and wildlife resources, soils, air quality, archeological information, and socio-economic factors. You may also perform background data searches, reconnaissance surveys, and personal interviews as necessary. Strong organizational skills are vital in order to maintain detailed AML inventory, as well as calculate preliminary designs and estimates. Another primary part of this position involves administering and managing AML grants and subawards, including guiding grantees through the application process and assisting with developing grant justifications, budgets, invoices, and any special requirements in accordance with grant guidance and standards.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $75,658.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists;or
Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline;or
Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Special Requirements:
This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
This positionrequires possession of a valid driver's license.
