Job Description

SUMMARY: Apply appropriate coatings to pressure vessels, and other items relative to Steel Fab. DUTIES ARE AS FOLLOWS: 1. Application of coatings to assembled products. 2. Must be able to enter tanks through man way and paint inside of tanks as required. 3. Proper usage and maintenance of respiratory equipment 4. Mixing and thinning of coatings per manufacturing recommendations including poly, enamel and zinc. 5. Safe and proper sealing and storage of unused coating. 6. Cleaning of painting equipment with proper disposal of all material(s) used in the cleaning process. 7. Replenishing of paint in pressure pots. 8. Verification of adequate coverage of coating on finished products including using a mil gage. 9. The proper completion of applicable paperwork associated with this classification. 10. Must be able to take measurements and understand effect of humidity, dew point, etc. to ensure adequate preparation of tanks. 11. Material handling - operation ofcranes, hoists, rolls and forklifts as needed. Also successfully complete any training/safety program relating to the operation of the equipment. 12. Knowledge of and compliance with all safety and environmental requirements regarding coatings, their application and disposal. 13. Work with foreman and safety director to ensure all safety and environmental regulations are followed. 14. Knowledge of Global Harmonization System. 15. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and finishing specifications as they relate to finishing Steel Fab products. 16. This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive, and the employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management, as required. Staffing of positions to be determined by Company, as requirements warrant. 17. Must be able to complete a product with a good finish including no runs, orange peel, etc. 18. Job may require handling or moving of hazardous waste. 19. Follow all Steel Fab policies. EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE: 1. Paint Spray Guns and related hardware 2. Respirator and other personal safety equipment 3. Pressure pots / Agitator mechanisms 4. All applicable pneumatic and electric power tools 5. All applicable hand tools 6. Mill Thickness Gauge EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Good oral communication skills, 1 year experience in a like environment, or a minimum of 1 year post high school education in a related field. 1. Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret receiving related documents. Ability to write reports and correspondence related to receiving. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and other employees of the organization. 2. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, and geometry. 3. Reasoning Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
