Summary As a Supply Chain Management (SCM) Team Member, the Logistics Management Specialist collaborates with Senior Management leadership and develops supply chain management strategies in support of the VA Health Care System and supported catchment area; develops assigned Supply Chain metrics which identify business objectives and drives the right supply chain behaviors for planning and executing approved strategies and providing supply chain expertise to improve supply availability. Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Integration - Resolves or contributes to the resolution of assigned high-priority logistics, supply, distribution, information or service problems through personal action or immediate coordination with required local personnel/activities. Serves as an integrator and/or facilitator for contact with supply chain management customers, ensuring Supply Chain Management Service is positioned to serve the full range of supply chain needs. Performs logistical assessments of strategic supply support in coordination with the supported customers and alerts management of systemic problems. Troubleshoots and resolves issues where supply chain deficiencies affect the mission. Develops designated supply input for fiscal year and long-range plans and programs, analyzing material for reasonableness, consistency, and validity of various assumptions. Analytics - Analyzes the effectiveness of logistics and vendor support services. Develops ongoing strategic analyses across supply chain activities and recommends solutions for improvements. Researches and studies private industry as well as Department of Veteran Affairs best practices to develop and apply concepts that best fit and support Supply Chain requirements. Training and Customer Service - Develops logistics and supply chain management training opportunities and customer supply chain systems, programs, support offerings, supplies and services to collaborative partners and customers. Participates in the development of education and training documentation. Communicates with customers and personnel on the role logistics plays in maintaining comprehensive logistics support, operational readiness and sustainability.
