As a field mechanical engineer, you will work on projects that enable the heart of our client's data center site. You and other team members will work closely with client owners in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. In this role you will collaborate with on-site personnel to support projects of varying size and complexity including assessment of systems, consulting system owners and analyzing scope requests from stakeholders.
As a Mechanical Engineering Professional, you will be responsible for interacting with the client, contractors, and site personnel in Baton Rouge, LA. Your job includes designing, developing, evaluating, and preparing recommendations with basis of design (BOD), scope of work (SOW) documents, in addition to design, construction and specifications documents through the positional (programming) process with a team. You will also oversee engineering and construction for the facility mechanical systems work including HVAC, chilled water systems, technical coolant systems, fire protection, plumbing, process-piping and equipment. The work will include retrofits of existing building systems, as well as new systems.

What to expect in this Role:
Reviewing vendor submittal packages against client requirements and specifications
Interacting with subcontractors and construction personnel
Perform field inspections and audits to verify compliance with contract documents, construction drawings, industry standards, and safety regulations.
Review and interpret project specifications, drawings, RFI's, and submittals to ensure adherence to quality requirements.
Track and document non-conformance reports (NCRs) and oversee corrective actions to resolve quality issues.
Collaborate with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to enforce quality standards and resolve issues.
Oversee and inspect construction activities to verify workmanship, alignment, and adherence to project requirements.

Support pre-installation meetings, punch lists, and final inspections to ensure project milestones are met.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of safety regulations, and industry best practices
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited university
At least 3 years of practical application of mechanical facilities design engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems
Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and leadership experience
Solid knowledge and application of building codes and other related standards (ASHRAE, ASME, etc.)
Solid knowledge in practice and procedures for specifications and selection of all @types of mechanical equipment and components
Proficient working knowledge of design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
Passionate about buildings and construction
Ideally, you'll also have:
EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
5 years of experience working on site or as a facility engineer
Working knowledge of design-related deliverables, such as P&IDs, PFDs, Details, and Equipment Plans, etc.
Proficiency with industry-standard HVAC load and energy modeling software such as Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, or Trane Trace 3D.
Experience coordinating work packages with contractors/subcontractors

This is an on-site position requiring work to be performed on the client site in Baton Rouge. If applicant is not located in the region, relocation assistance may be available.
Candidate will be required to be on site Monday-Friday during normal business hours - nominally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm local time.
Physical Requirements:
Position requires field visits and walks at an active client site in various stages of construction. Applicant must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, lift and carry up to 25lbs.
