This is a long contract with one of our Global Medical Device Robotics & Digital Solutions clients, located in Santa Clara, CA. Job Description
Provide technical support in the design, installation, testing, and start-up for a variety of industrial control systems that support medical device testing or production equipment.
Design, develop and assemble electrical or electrical-mechanical modules and systems.
Responsible for completing test, electrical, and mechanical engineering duties; coordinates with cross-functional partners to design, manufacture, and test equipment and systems.
Lead technicians and junior engineers through equipment build, debug, and verification; track tasks, risks, and schedule to meet milestones.
Medical manufacturing equipment and test equipment are designed and manufactured and are associated with this position: bronchoscopy endoscopes, urology endoscopes, Automatic Calibration Stations (ACS), Optical Final Stations (OFS), and other equipment to produce urology surgical accessories and instrumentation.
Duties & Responsibilities
Supports New Product Introduction (NPI) and Manufacturing departments by designing and maintaining high-quality industrial-grade test, production and calibration equipment.
Capability to execute equipment qualifications, IQ/OQ/PQ as well as preventative maintenance on any equipment.
Designs, develops, and tests electrical/electronic aspects of industrial manufacturing equipment according to established policies, procedures, government regulations, and customer requirements.
Build proto@types; works with the lab to develop test fixtures of conceptual designs.
Documents specifications and requirements on all designs.
Solves problems applying fishbone diagram or other standard root cause investigation tools.
Ensures alignment to established project schedules and priorities. Assists others to ensure schedules and priorities are met.
Leads in the compliance and safety testing of various mechanical and electrical systems for regulatory agencies.
Accountable for the creation, modification, and maintenance of hardware and software for new and revised products.
Develops product requirements, objectives, definitions, and modules for a new or revised design. This includes the estimating of the electrical and mechanical engineering effort and materials on jobs or proposals being quoted.
Collaborates across departments with other engineering managers, marketing, sales, and engineering personnel during the product development or revision to ensure project and/or job effectiveness.
Support manufacturing operations by developing and updating manufacturing documentation, assisting with production activities, and conducting failure investigations to ensure continuous improvements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or relevant field is required
4-7 Years of related work experience is required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, e.g. presentation skills, email
Experience in the Medical Device industry or other regulated industry
Proven knowledge of manufacturing principles, practices, and procedures
Project Management experience
Six sigma and process excellence tools/methodologies. Experience with Non-conformances (NCs), CAPAs, MPIs, Work instructions
Problem-solving tools and best practices, e.g. fishbone, etc. Green Belt preferred
Technical proficiency in statistical tools like Minitab, preferred
Programming language experience (e.g., Python), preferred
Experience with PLC programming, servos, actuators, industrial I/O devices, pneumatics, and robots, preferred
Comfortable working in a command-line interface, Linux preferred
Business/financial competence, preferred
Technical proficiency in CAD tools like SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD, preferred
