About the Senior Manager, Accounting Operations Position
The Senior Manager, Accounting Operations plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the accounting teams responsible for more than $2 billion in annual revenue and over $1 billion in cash payments. This position provides strategic and operational leadership across revenue accounting, accounts payable, and commodity-based accounting while driving modernization of financial systems and processes.
Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Controller, this role partners closely with cross-functional stakeholders including Commercial Affairs, Marketing, Legal, Procurement, Technology, Treasury, and FP&A to support growth initiatives, regulatory requirements, and operational excellence.
What You Get to Do
Lead and develop multiple accounting teams responsible for revenue, accounts payable, and commodity accounting operations.
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to a two-day month-end close.
Drive the evaluation, implementation, and ongoing optimization of modern accounting technologies and ERP systems.
Own and enhance key financial transactional systems in collaboration with Technology to support growth, M&A, and evolving accounting standards.
Oversee Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance for revenue, accounts payable, and commodity accounting processes.
Partner with Treasury and FP&A to support cash forecasting and serve as Cash Manager backup when needed.
Support regulatory and rate-related initiatives, including collaboration with internal rate support teams and external FERC counsel.
Contribute to financial due diligence, contract reviews, and system integrations related to growth and acquisition initiatives.
What You Bring to the Table
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum of ten years of progressive experience managing financial or operational accounting functions.
Proven experience leading teams and developing high-performing people leaders.
Extensive hands-on experience with large-scale ERP systems and financial software.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
Ability to collaborate across multiple functions and influence at senior levels.
Experience supporting complex transactions, regulatory reporting, and business growth initiatives.
