Job Title: Composite Technician

Job Description

As a Composite Technician, you will be responsible for manufacturing parts using filament winding equipment. This role involves utilizing various techniques to modify glass, carbon, and other fibers to create parts and structures according to project specifications. You will operate CNC machines and conduct weld inspections.

Responsibilities

Develop a hands-on working knowledge of winding machines, resin mixing equipment, hoists, extractors, curing ovens, and other ancillary equipment required in the winding process.

Produce products according to standard procedures, process specifications, and other work instructions.

Set up and tear down production machinery, validate the progress of the machine's work, and make adjustments as necessary.

Feed raw materials or parts to semi-automated machines.

Gather parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials needed to complete the process.

Position parts and subassemblies using templates or by reading measurements.

Assemble parts to match product specifications using hand tools and power tools.

Perform data entry related to production.

Essential Skills

High school diploma or GED required, technical degree a plus.

2+ years of manufacturing experience preferred.

Effective communication in written and spoken English.

Working knowledge of diverse high-speed machinery and measurement tools.

Experience with Fanuc controls is a plus.

Ability to accurately use measuring devices such as pi-tape, calipers, and air pressure gauges.

Ability to operate power tools including hand saws, drill guns, and band saws.

Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

Work Environment

You will work in a production/manufacturing environment at the former Hexagon Masterworks location. This facility manufactures Composite Overwrapped Pressure Vessels (COPV) for the SpaceX Falcon 9 and Starship. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 6AM to 2:30PM, with occasional Saturday shifts, totaling approximately 50 hours per week.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westminster, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
