DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for overseeing intensive psychiatric treatment of mentally ill patients within all units of the hospital. These units provide a multi-disciplinary approach to the psychiatric management and treatment of the acute, chronic, and geriatric emotionally ill persons. You will be responsible for ensuring the ward functions in an efficient and professional manner while also providing quality psychiatric care to all patients. Key responsibilities include:
Conducting formal psychiatric assessments
Reviewing all psychiatric diagnoses
Completing psychiatric reviews of patients and documents
Reviewing medication and making adjustments and/or changes to ensure proper psycho-pharmacological treatment is applied to each individual patient
Performing competency evaluations
Overseeing the planning and implementation of individual treatment plan for each patient,
Providing guidance to interdisciplinary staff, ensuring active treatment programs are being conducted daily
Reviewing and evaluating discharge planning
Documenting patient progress toward community placement

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Hours may vary based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
Special Requirement:
This position requires the possession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and a drug screening.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
