THE ROLE:

The Lead Technician I, Manufacturing is responsible for leading operators through their daily tasks and ensuring tasks are performed in accordance with company policy and procedure. The Lead I is responsible for leading a team of up to 15 employees, making sure they are trained, adhering to company policies, working safely and achieving departmental standards and goals. This is a working lead position and will work side by side with operators in production.
HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:
· Actively promotes and maintain a "Safety First" culture within the department, demonstrated by routinely inspections to ensure compliance of safe practices.
· Responsible for training and developing your team. Develop and update SOPs, work instructions, and one-point lessons as needed.
· Lead, Participate and take ownership in changeovers, major cleans, Lean/CI projects (i.e. developing and improving 5s standards)
"We build it better". Work closely with supporting departments (QA, Maintenance, Warehouse, Sanitation) to optimize Safety, Quality, reliability, and efficiencies. "We always do what's right".
· Validate line equipment are set-up and functioning correctly for the daily shift. Identify and immediately report and equipment opportunities to the department Supervisor. Provide basic troubleshooting and or subtle tuning when needed to maximize safety, quality, and efficiencies during operation.
· Ensure all products and materials required for daily production are in the appropriate staging area both at the start of the shift as well as at completion. Ensure the next shift is set up for production.
· Confirm proper inventory control procedures are being followed for issuing materials to work orders. Work with warehouse and inventory control for any inventory corrections or inventory accuracy improvements.
· Attest all documentation is accurate, complete, and documented at the time of execution. This includes Inspecting and monitoring Electronic Batch Records, Oracle, equipment logbooks, along with other relevant logs by following GDP (good documentation practices).
· Coordinate and monitor the work of production employees on the packaging line. This includes managing rotations of employees through breaks and lunch periods. Overtime may be required during the week and on weekends. Report any performance and behavioral issues to your Supervisor.
· Verify proper use of equipment, housekeeping practices, proper documentation practices, and safety procedures. Verify the quality process is being practiced and report any defects found to QA & immediate Supervisor. Provide training and re-directing operators if necessary.
· Cultivate a teamwork attitude with your team and between all departments within the plant lead by "We work together". Assist your supervisor by conducting secondary pass down meetings to ensure a seamless communication with different shift and departments.

Qualifications
SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
Skills
Experienced in line changeovers, operating blenders, Hoist, and sanitizing
Experienced in fine tuning equipment to perform at a level of efficiency and quality.
Ability to lead team and coordinate daily work assignments, document & use an electronic batch record
Ability to manually handle raw material product in a quick, timely manner and safely lift up to 50lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods
Good teamwork & communication skills to understand, speak, read, and write in the English language
Ability to apply basic math & computer skills - Control Inventory, Outlook, Word, Excel
Experience:
Up to 2 years' experience in a fast-paced packaging/manufacturing environment
Experience in filling out batch records and logbooks
Experience working/participating in a team-based environment
Education:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Leadership skills training
Lean manufacturing or CI training
Prior general safety training or experience working on safety committee
Experience operating high speed packaging/manufacturing equipment; unscramblers, fillers, Blenders, Hoist, labelers, case packers, palletizers, &/or other highly automated, high-volume packaging/manufacturing process/equipment.
Experience working in a food or nutraceutical environment.
