Job Summary and Qualifications
As an RN Trauma Educator, you will strengthen trauma care across the continuum by preparing teams with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to deliver safe, high-quality care. Serving as both a clinical mentor and program leader, you will turn guidelines, performance-improvement insights, and national standards into clear, practical education that elevates care at the bedside. Through focused assessments, targeted training, and close collaboration, you will ensure every caregiver is equipped to provide the level of trauma care patients deserve - advancing our shared mission to improve more lives in more ways.
The Trauma Educator is responsible for the development, implementation, and evaluation of trauma education programs for healthcare professionals, patients, and the community. This role ensures that staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide optimal care to trauma patients across the continuum of care. The Trauma Educator will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote best practices in trauma care and prevention. The Trauma Educator is also part of the Performance Improvement team, assisting in chart review duties as needed.
Major Responsibility:
Develop and implement comprehensive trauma education programs.
Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs and make necessary adjustments.
Serve as a resource for trauma-related information and best practices.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve trauma care.
Conduct needs assessments to identify educational gaps related to trauma care.
Design, develop, and deliver educational programs using a variety of methods, including lectures, simulations, and online modules.
Evaluate the effectiveness of educational programs through pre- and post-testing, surveys, and observation.
Maintain accurate records of educational activities and participant attendance.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement trauma protocols and guidelines.
Participate in trauma performance improvement activities.
Stay current with the latest research and best practices in trauma care.
Provide education to patients and families on trauma prevention and recovery.
Represent the organization at local, regional, and national trauma conferences and meetings.
Mentor and precept new staff members.
Assist with the development and maintenance of trauma-related policies and procedures.
What qualifications you will need:
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience in trauma care.
Experience in developing and delivering educational programs.
Experience in performance improvement activities preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Allied Health, or related field required.
Master's degree in Nursing, Education, or related field preferred.
Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) instructor. Course Director certification preferred.
Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) course coordinator certification preferred.
TCRN or other relevant certification preferred.
