Who we're looking for

Toyota's Material Quality Chemicals is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Anti-Corrosion Engineer .

The primary responsibility of this role is to (1) ensure highest quality chemical raw materials (pretreatment, electro-coat, sealers, and adhesives) are utilized in our NAP vehicles; (2) and ensure quality assurance activities for anti-corrosion materials and manufacturing processes used in the production of NA Toyota/Lexus vehicles. You will accomplish this through collaboration with your counterparts in Production Engineering, Material Design, and NAMC Quality Engineering, among others.

Reporting to the Anti-Corrosion Manager , the person in this role will support the Material Quality Chemicals objective to ensure highest quality chemical materials are utilized in our NA vehicles and to prevent & quickly resolve quality concerns.

What you'll be doing

Lead and/or support new material introduction activities including trials and inspection standard development.

Conduct internal audit activities at NAMCs to confirm quality requirements are being met.

Conduct on-site audits at suppliers in order to identify gaps in their readiness for mass production.

Lead/support supplier development activities, initiatives, and new supplier evaluation.

Lead/support quality assurance activities for anti-corrosion for pre-production and mass production (includes supplier process audits and part evaluations).

Provide technical support and expertise to related stakeholders (NAMCs, PE, PUR, etc).

Lead problem solving activities for chemical raw material related to quality opportunities and anti-corrosion quality assurance concerns.

Lead root cause analysis for chemical and/or anti-corrosion related field issues.

Ability to travel up to 25% both domestic and international

What you bring

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry or Material Science

At least 3 years of experience within Toyota (experience can include team member and/or contingent worker experience)

Manufacturing or Engineering experience with chemical raw materials and/or quality assurance activities

Manufacturing quality problem solving experience including usage of the 7 QC tools

Manufacturing process for raw materials and/or quality system audit experience

Cross-functional team or group leadership and collaboration experience

Added bonus if you have

Masters degree (or higher) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Material Science

Manufacturing or Engineering experience with anti-corrosion materials or processes

Manufacturing or Engineering experience with any of the following chemical materials: pretreatment, electro-coat, sealers, adhesives

Practical, hands-on experience testing materials and/or parts in a laboratory setting.

Full TIS evaluation experience per anti-corrosion quality requirements

Experience with anti-corrosion investigation (PDCA approach)

Led Kaizen initiatives to streamline anti-corrosion investigation process

Experience with data analytics, data automation, and data visualization (example: experience with SharePoint, Microsoft Power Platform - PowerBI, Power Automate, etc)

Experience with chemical materials or technology related to battery EV/HV
