THE OPPORTUNITY
The Associate will be responsible for analyzing, evaluating, structuring, underwriting, and closing potential life insurance lending opportunities. The position requires the ability to work independently with limited day-to-day supervision. We are interested in smart, hard- working, and creative candidates - a "perfectly applicable" background/training is not necessary to be successful in the group. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.
HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Evaluate senior and unitranche financing requests to determine credit quality of opportunities and appropriate loan structures.
Identify specific merits, risks, and mitigants for each transaction.
Construct and maintain detailed financial models and develop sensitivity analyses.
Generate internal approval memoranda and term sheets.
Perform market, industry, and sponsor due diligence.
Ensure business terms, concepts, and structure are accurately captured in loan documentation.
Assist in all aspects of origination activity leading to the closing of new transactions.
Follow all established policies and procedures.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Experience:
Required: 3-4 years' experience in investment banking, structured lending
Preferred: Premium finance lending
Education & Certifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree
Preferred: MBA or Masters

Required:
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy - work is subject to various forms of regulatory scrutiny
Must exhibit a significant level of trust, professionalism, diplomacy and conceptual judgement in addition to normal courtesy and tact
Superior interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities, and projects simultaneously
Creative and strategic thinker capable of analyzing information/processes to determine overall trends and make appropriate conclusions
Ability to work independently yet collaborate cross-functionally in a team environment
Proven ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint
Preferred:
Knowledge of banking/financial/insurance business operations, industry trends and applicable federal and state banking regulations for safety and soundness related to credit risk/loan review and governances to identify gaps in the Bank's credit and underwriting policies and procedures
Meaningful experience with financial modeling
Knowledge of multiple lending asset and loan collateral classes
Advanced understanding of accounting and finance including financial statement analysis
High School diploma or equivalent required

SALARY RANGE
The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
