Summary Responsibilities VA Careers - Social Work: https://youtube.com/embed/enRhz\ua\UU The role of the Women Veterans Program Manager (WVPM) assesses the need for services for women Veterans, implements services for eligible women Veterans as well as to provide facilities oversight to ensure that identified needs are met. Duties include but are not limited to: Ensure appropriate psychiatric services such as drug and alcohol treatment and group therapy, which may have female variations; endocrinology; and oncology (breast and reproductive cancers) to eligible women Veterans. Responsibility for Fund Control Points (FCP) that are allocated funds specific for the Women Veterans Program. Designs and implements aggressive outreach and in-reach programs to identify and locate women Veterans in need of health care services, to educate staff about women health issues, and to engage enrolled Veterans in health issues that affect women. Chairs the Women Veterans Health Committee, meeting regularly to manage the care of women patients and to identify and address areas of special concern for women Veterans who use the facility. Analyzes complaints and recommends changes in service delivery to management. Makes recommendations for selections for supervisory and non-supervisory positions, hear group grievances and serious employee complaints, review serious disciplinary cases (i.e., those proposing suspensions and removals), and disciplinary problems involving key employees. Qualifications Basic Requirements United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. English Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f). Education: Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may NOT be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Licensure: Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Grade Determinations: In addition to meeting the basic requirements stated above, the following qualifications criteria must be met in determining the appropriate grade assignment of candidates. GS-13 Supervisory Social Worker candidates must have the following: Experience/Education. One year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. Experience must demonstrate possession of advanced practice skills in a specialty area or in administration demonstrating progressively more professional competency and judgment. Candidate may have certification or other post-master's degree training from a nationally recognized professional organization or university that includes a defined curriculum/course of study and internship, or equivalent supervised professional experience. Specialized experience include: significant personnel management responsibilities for a small to moderate sized professional and non-professional staff, including support staff and professional staff at the GS-12 grade level and below. Licensure/Certification: Individuals assigned as Supervisory Social Workers must be licensed or certified at the advanced practice level, and must be able to provide supervision for licensure. Ability to delegate authority, manage priorities, coordinate work, and follow up on pending issues to complete duties in an accurate and timely fashion. Ability to analyze organizational and operational problems, develop and implement solutions that result in efficient operations, and use data effectively to manage workload, quality, performance, and productivity within the service. Preferred Experience: Significant clinical experience in a healthcare setting, particularly within the VA system, to understand the medical and psychosocial needs of women Veterans. Experience in women's health, mental health, and/or trauma-informed care due to the high prevalence of military sexual trauma (MST) and other sex-specific health issues. Experience in advocacy work to represent and promote the interests of women Veterans within the VA and in the community. Familiarity with VA policies, procedures, and resources to effectively navigate and utilize the VA system. Understanding of eligibility criteria for VA benefits and services specific to women Veterans. Physical Requirements: The physical demands of the work requires use of fingers; moderate walking and standing; near vision correctable at 13" to 16" to Jaeger 1 to 4; far vision correctable in on eye to 20/20 and to 20/40 in the other; hearing aid permitted; clear speech; emotional stability; moderate duty.
