This is a full-time temporary position which may last up to six (6) months. There is one vacancy in Windom Building Maintenance and one vacancy in Windom Bridge Maintenance.

Job Duties - Examples of work for this specific vacancy include but are not limited to:

Building Maintenance

This position will provide a clean, comfortable, healthy, and safe environment in state owned or state-maintained structures.Duties will include maintaining all building floor surfaces, windows, walls.Provide clean breakrooms and restrooms and maintain supplies.Empty trash cans, change light bulbs, assist in moving furniture, and miscellaneous work assignments.This position will also be responsible for maintain lawn, plants, and landscaping so that it looks presentable to the public.Prepare walls and other surfaces for applying paint and apply paint with rollers, brushes, and sprays in a professional manner.

Bridge Maintenance

Assist with bridge maintenance activities to keep bridges safe and in good repair according to MnDOT standards; and performs related work as required.

Minimum Qualifications

To qualify in the Building Maintenance Unit , Laborer General applicants must meet all the following criteria:

Basic math and reading comprehension skills.

Working knowledge of English sufficient to read, write, speak, and understand oral and written information; communicate with employees and the public in-person or via two-way radio and other electronic devices; and to maintain routine written logs and simple records.

Ability to understand and follow verbal directions sufficient to interpret, communicate and carry out verbal assignments, safely, efficiently, and independently.

Possess the ability to perform heavy physical labor work sufficient to complete assignments. Strength and ability necessary to bend, lift, dig, reach, and load heavy materials.

Endurance required to perform tasks under extreme environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, rain and wind.

Valid Class D Driver's License.

To qualify in the Bridge Maintenance Unit , Laborer General applicants must meet all the following criteria:

Must possess a valid Class D driver's license

Must have the ability to perform routine tasks under close supervision.

Must possess basic knowledge of equipment usage sufficient to check and change oil, lubricate equipment and work outside.

Ability to operate mowers and use hand tools.

Knowledge of methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance and construction work sufficient to carry out detailed work directions.

Ability to perform heavy manual labor work sufficient to complete assignments.

Strength and agility necessary to bend, lift, dig, reach, and load heavy materials.

Endurance necessary to perform indoor and outdoor tasks under extreme environmental conditions, such as heat, cold, rain, snow, and wind.
