Summary The purpose of the position is to fulfill support duties for Facilities and Data Center management, operation, construction and maintenance programs. The incumbent serves as senior technical specialist for the Facilities Management construction and maintenance programs. This position has frequent access and performs work in high-impact critical server rooms, media storage areas, communications centers, and other areas with large concentrations of information system components. The GE oversees, directs, and administers the development, production, repair/rehab, and maintenance of materials, components, equipment, or other systems and sub-systems of the building automation, energy management, and utility alarm systems, utilizing Direct Digital Control (DDC), analog, electromechanical, pneumatic, and graphical interface technologies at the IO site. Reviews all plans for modification or construction of the facilities for quality control and to ensure compliance with the IO policies and federal codes and standards. Assists in the development and implementation of emergency preparedness plans and makes recommendations on the restoration of critical utility systems in emergency situations. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/29/2026. You must meet the Basic Individual Occupational requirement and you must possess at least one (1) year of specialized experience as described below: Basic Requirement: Bachelor's Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. OR Combination of education and experience: College-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
