The person in this position will work with a diverse team of engineers and scientists, completing water resources and related technical field assignments. The person in this position will provide field-based technicalsupportfor the organization's water resourcesmonitoringprogram. The role focuses onassistingwiththe design, implementation, operation, and continuous improvement of water quality and hydrologic monitoring efforts across stormwater systems, streams, ponds, wetlands, lakes, and reservoirs. The position isprimarily field-oriented,withadditionalresponsibilities related to instrumentation oversight, data quality assurance, and contributing technicalexpertiseto planning and analysis efforts. The ideal candidate will bring extensive hands-on field experience, strong problem-solving skills,strong communicationskills, anddemonstratedexpertisewith surface water monitoring instrumentation and field methods. This role functions as a fieldtechnicianand technical resource for waterresourcesmonitoringactivities. Fieldwork may involve short-term and potentially out-of-town assignments. Your impact - key responsibilities Field monitoring and sampling:conduct routine andevent-basedmonitoring of surface water, stormwater, lakes, wetlands, and reservoirs, including in-situ measurement of key water quality parameters. Collect and manage water samplesin accordance withestablished protocols and safety requirements, while documenting site conditions and factors influencing water quality. Instrumentation and system monitoring:serve as a technicalresourcefor water monitoring instrumentation and field systems, including installation, configuration, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of monitoring equipment. Ensure data quality and field efficiency through equipment diagnostics, documentation, and evaluation of emerging monitoring technologies, recommending improvements tomonitoringnetworks as needed. Aquatic ecology:support aquatic community monitoring (e.g., macroinvertebrates, fish), including field data collection,observationsand surveys. Document biological indicators, habitat conditions, and vegetation trends as part of monitoring efforts. About theopportunity Ahybridwork arrangement may be considered for this position. A hybrid work arrangement refers to splitting time worked between a Barr office and a home office.This positionisbased out of Barr'sMinneapolis, Minnesota, office. Aboutyou -requiredcorecompetencies Education:bachelor's degree in water resources, environmental science, hydrology, ecology, natural resources, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience:minimum ofthreeyears of experience in environmental or water resources fieldwork. Demonstrated experience with water quality monitoring equipment and field sampling methods. Strong troubleshooting skills related to field instrumentation. Ability to work independently in field settings and mentor others. Willingness and ability to regularly travelfor fieldwork. Driver'slicense:possession of a current, validdriver'slicense and acceptable driving record. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship by Barr,now or in the future. Helpfuladditionalexperience (notrequired) 5or more years of experience in surface water monitoring or related fieldwork. Experience leading field teams or serving as a technical resource for monitoring programs. Experience with hydrologic or water quality data analysis. Familiarity with aquatic ecology, lake management, or aquatic plant management. Compensation:Anticipatedrange of$33-$40/hr.Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
