Description
Project teams in our Energy & Industrial Group (EIG) support industry-leading projects in power generation, plant design, environmental compliance, mid/downstream oil & gas, and multi-disciplined industrial projects. We're leading efforts to decarbonize the industry by utilizing advanced technologies in renewable energy, carbon capture, and hydrogen power. Our EIG teams perform detailed engineering services for photovoltaic (PV) solar projects and the integration of solar and energy storage. We're the industry leader in carbon capture technologies with experience executing pilot-scale to commercial-scale projects for utilities, industrial plants, and direct air capture. We provide engineering services for green hydrogen production via electrolysis using solar, wind, hydro, and nuclear power sources and we support on-site usage in power generation, fuel cells, and fueling stations.
As a member of Sargent & Lundy's Environmental Technology team, you will utilize your academic background to conduct evaluations and reviews of existing energy and industrial facilities to prepare comprehensive reports assessing proposed upgrades, modifications, and equipment/system replacements, as well as to define, evaluate, and implement complex environmental compliance and permitting projects.
The position will offer you the opportunity to expand your knowledge of engineering and environmental systems, and to work with multi-disciplined project teams to:
Evaluate and review the design of air and water quality control projects for the energy and industrial market.
Prepare preliminary engineering studies for modifying and retrofitting air quality control projects on existing energy and industrial facilities.
Independently verify the design of vendor-supplied equipment.
Analyze technical issues, prepare accompanying system specification data, and present your findings and proposals to clients and peers.
Evaluate the impact of legislation and regulatory initiatives with respect to air and water quality controls for new and existing energy and industrial sources.
Prepare complex environmental compliance evaluations and environmental permit applications, and interface with federal, state and local permitting agencies.
As a member of the Environmental Technology team, you will be responsible for:
Establishing work priorities on a daily basis for multiple projects, and responding to requests from project managers.
Maintaining and enhancing your knowledge and understanding of industry standards and specifications, control system design, and new technology developments.
Developing your career via peer-learning and knowledge sharing with other engineers and participating in S&L's System of Processes and our associated "Communities of Practice."
Participating in industry code committees and conferences.
You will have the opportunity to provide technical guidance to less experienced engineers, travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews, and travel to plant site locations for field verification of designs.
This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week.
