Job Summary:
General Atomics Electromagnetic Systems (GA-EMS) designs and manufactures first-of-a-kind electromagnetic and electric power generation systems. We currently have an exciting opportunity Infrastructure & Network Engineer to join our Ground Systems & Mission Operations team located in Englewood, CO.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Design and support the networks for individual project team.
Analyze and modify systems requirements as a part of a larger project team.
Design, configure, manage and provide technical networking support for physical environments, including hosts, operating systems and storage.
Design, configure, manage and provide technical networking support for virtual environments, including hosts, operating systems and storage.
Design monitoring systems to trend network usage and capacity.
Identify malfunctions and make corrections to network configurations to ensure efficient operation. Manage assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives.
Design, configure, and provide technical support for the firewalls, IPS, and other network security systems. Respond to inquiries from internal customers, external customers, site personnel and outside vendors and provides technical assistance and support in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot malfunctions of network applications to resolve operational issues and restore services. Monitor and document traffic analysis.
Coordinate the repair, replacement, or retirement of system and network infrastructure.
Proactively identify, investigate, and propose resolutions to issues that could impact the network/server
infrastructure utilized by customers to support mission operations.
Liaise with all levels of program and engineering staff on design, integration and test matters and support other teams/disciplines as necessary.
Formulate and maintain plans as execution occurs.
Implements tailored program security controls
Supports programs and IT orgs with implementing compliance to NIST and ISO.
Troubleshoot any system network issues and generate roots cause analysis briefing
Apply technical knowledge to determine and set technical objectives to analyze, investigate and resolve advanced engineering problems; including future applications, and engineering developments.
Perform network design on missions from bid generation through launch and operations. Prepare and lead the review of technical response to bids, presentation materials and reports. Liaise with customer and supplier staff, government representatives and other professionals.
Design network architecture, subnetting, VPN tunneling, routing
Perform network device installation, configuration, maintenance, patching and monitoring (Cisco, juniper, VMware virtual Networking)
Perform backup management
Design and plan testing for operational failover
Perform vmware management, license management
Support system architecture, system integration
Windows AD domain and user management, group policy design and management
Experience with AWS CloudFormation (infrastructure as code (IAC)), S3 buckets, Security Groups, EC2 Instances, IAM Roles, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, and Guard Duty
Integration of security services with the centralized management infrastructure in AWS virtual Private Clouds)
Once the mission goes into operations, the candidate will be on an on-call rotation as necessary to meet operations availability requirements

Job Qualifications:
Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; nine or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, seven or more years of experience with a masters degree, or four or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
Demonstrates a detailed technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads to meet established deadlines or milestones with some experience in project leadership.
Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals; the capability of representing the organization as a prime technical contact; and, the ability to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced professionals.
Must be customer focused and able to work on a self-initiated basis or in a team environment and able to work extended hours and travel as required.
