Position Summary: Teacher for the 4-year-old classroom is responsible for planning and delivering developmentally appropriate, inclusive instruction that supports children's learning and growth across developmental domains (social-emotional, language/literacy, cognitive, physical, and adaptive skills). The teacher creates a safe, nurturing, and equitable learning environment and collaborates with families and related service providers to meet the needs of all children, including children with disabilities and diverse learning profiles.

Instruction, Curriculum, and Assessment:

Plan and implement daily instruction aligned to early learning standards and program curriculum.

Design learning experiences using play-based, hands-on, and developmentally appropriate practices.

Differentiate instruction to support a range of learners, including dual language learners and children with IEPs.

Use ongoing observation and assessment to monitor progress and adjust instruction.

Inclusive Practices and Special Education Collaboration:

Implement inclusive classroom practices consistent with the Birth?Grade 3 Inclusive Settings (#1001) license.

Collaborate with special education staff, therapists, and other service providers (e.g., SLP, OT, PT, behavioral consultants).

Participate in IEP meetings as required; support goal implementation within daily routines and instruction.

Use positive behavior supports and trauma-informed, culturally responsive strategies.

Classroom Environment and Management:

Establish predictable routines, clear expectations, and developmentally appropriate guidance strategies.

Arrange the classroom to promote independence, engagement, and accessibility for all learners (including sensory and mobility needs).

Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment; follow supervision and safety procedures at all times.

Family Engagement and Communication:

Build strong relationships with families and caregivers through respectful, two-way communication.

Share child progress regularly and provide strategies families can use at home.

Support family participation in classroom and program activities; refer families to resources as needed.

Team Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with assistant teachers/paraprofessionals to ensure consistent classroom practices.

Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development.

Follow program policies, confidentiality requirements, and mandated reporting laws.

Contribute to program quality improvement efforts (e.g., classroom observations, accreditation, rating systems).
