Position Summary
The Senior Accountant within the Gross Margin team, will have full ownership of the gross margin accounting, including revenue and cost of goods sold, as well as the integrity of the related balance sheet accounts for assigned subsidiary(s). The Senior Accountant will primarily be responsible for the preparation of account reconciliations, preparing journal entries, calculating accruals, and supporting audits. As a senior team member, this position will set standards of excellence and continuously improve accounting processes. The ideal candidate will influence, challenge, and communicate clearly with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality financial outputs and support Leaf Home's continued growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare moderately complex journal entries in ERP/Accounting System, which may require some estimation of amounts, while maintaining high documentation standards prescribed by company policies.
Own accounting process for assigned financial areas, including documented understanding of transaction inflows and outflows and impact on related balance sheet and income statement accounts; working toward being a
subject-matter-expert
Prepare assigned balance sheet account reconciliations in a timely manner adhering to account reconciliation guidelines
Conduct monthly variance analysis of balance sheet and income statement
accounts. Collaborate with Financial Planning and Analysis team to investigate variances to the budget
Identify areas for process improvements and standardization and
opportunities to leverage technology to enhance efficiency of the job while emphasizing data integrity of the Accounting System
Provide audit support and analysis
May provide mentorship and/or supervisory support to Staff Accountants to ensure timeliness of daily activities
Perform other duties as assigned by manager
Experience and Minimum Qualifications:
Undergraduate (Bachelor's) degree
3+ years of public accounting experience, or
4+ years of general accounting or internal audit experience
Takes initiative to question unusual trends, discrepancies, or variances rather than accepting information at face value
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite
CPA designation
Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)

Additional and non-standard hours may be required (exempt)
Other hour considerations: Additional hours will happen primarily during month end close, during
the first week of the month, though may be needed at other times as well
