Class Summary
Job Description
The objective of the Gwinnett County District Attorney's Office is to provide fair, effective and expeditious investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses within the County. A Legal Associate is responsible for providing complex clerical and legal support to legal staff including general day-to-day administrative tasks, handling multiple phone lines, records management, and intake duties.
Essential Duties
Execute general office procedures and duties to ensure efficient daily operations
Provide exemplary customer service to internal and external stakeholders, fostering positive relationships
Remain up to date on relevant laws, regulations, and legal principles
Maintain accurate record-keeping practices and organize legal documents
Conduct independent and thorough legal research using various resources
Demonstrate proficiency in Georgia state laws and legal procedures
Utilize software applications like Microsoft Outlook for legal tasks
Support attorneys in case preparations, including drafting documents and conduction research
Assist with administrative tasks during court proceedings
Pursue ongoing professional development to enhance legal knowledge and skills

Grade
The grade for this position is B23(1). Salary will be dependent on education and experience.
Effective 4/11/2023, this position is eligible for the Employee Referral Program.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma, or G.E.D. and
Four (4) or more years of legal support experience or
An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
Basic knowledge of Georgia state laws
