Summary:
The Operations Manager, Patient Transport is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of assigned Patient Transport zones in an efficient manner that contributes positively to the overall experience of all customers. Works collaboratively with others to ensure these objectives are met. The Operations Manager, Patient Transport will evaluate the effectiveness of assigned zones on a continual basis and suggest changes when indicated based on productivity, quality and satisfaction indicators. Collaborates closely with Nursing, Medical Staff, and others as needed to maintain an on-going assessment of needs. Develop and maintain appropriate scheduling and triage functionality for optimal productivity and coverage of patients requiring transports.
Responsibilities:
Operations
· Coordinates Patient Transport operations in an effective, efficient manner that contributes positively to the overall experience of all customers.
· Ensure unit policies are carried out to ensure good clinical practices.
· Operational oversight for Patient Transporters and assigned aspects of the Patient Transport department.
· Provides management of Transporters, Telemetry Transporters, Dispatchers, Lead Telemetry Transporters, including but not limited to hiring, orientation, clinical competency, constructive discipline and other activities as indicated.
· Provides appropriate in-service training for department personnel.
· Collaborates with Nursing education to develop and maintain education programs for department personnel.
· Interfaces with nursing care units, nursing leadership, and ancillary departments to provide transport needs of patients requiring monitoring during transport, as defined in the Telemetry Transporter position description and guidelines for the program and those that do require it.
· Suggests changes when indicated based on productivity, quality and satisfaction indicators.
· Collaborates closely with Nursing, Medical Staff, and Department Leadership as needed to maintain an on-going assessment of needs.
· Develop and maintain appropriate scheduling and triage functionality for optimal productivity and coverage of patients requiring transports.
· Ensures staff compliance with patient safety standards, regulatory agency requirements, hospital policies, mandatory educational programs, and others as proscribed.
· Reviews and develops actions as necessary around metrics to include but not limited to turn-around times, response times, delays, productivity standards, and satisfaction scores.
· Provides training, coaching, discipline, and other personnel management functions in partnership with Human Resources and ensures accountability for team results.
· Develops and enforces policies, procedures, and standards to optimize operations and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements.
· - Maintains adequate staffing to accomplish the needs of the department. - Provides on-call support as required for the department.

Education or Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required) with Education Specialization in Healthcare Administration or related fieldEquivalent Experience with 2+ years' Experience in a Patient Transport, Patient Transfer, EMS, EMS Dispatch, or similar Hospital/Healthcare field-1+ years' Experience in a supervisory role managing EMS or patient care staff
Or H.S. Diploma/GED (Required) with equivalent Experience and 4+ years' Experience in a Patient Transport, Patient Transfer, EMS, EMS Dispatch, or similar Hospital/Healthcare field, and 3+ years Experience in a supervisory role managing EMS or patient care staff. In lieu of direct supervisory experience, consideration will be made for the following in a high volume environment: - EMS or Transport Dispatcher - Lead EMT-B or Lead EMT-P for a EMS Transport or 911 Ambulance - Lead Telemetry Transporter-And 3+ years Experience in UPHS entity Patient Transport, Lift Team, or PeriOp Transport department as a Telemetry Transporter, Dispatcher, or Lead Telemetry Transporter role
