Job Title: Electrical Engineer - Power SystemsJob Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems to join our dynamic team. This role involves providing engineering support for the design, operation, improvement, and troubleshooting of facility electrical systems. You will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary infrastructure project team on critical and fast-paced projects, ensuring reliable power service and optimizing facility electrical systems.
Responsibilities
Provide engineering support for facility electrical systems, including substations, switchgear, power distribution systems, lighting systems, UPS systems, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and backup generators.
Perform load flow analysis, equipment evaluations, grounding system reviews, and power monitoring.
Coordinate planned downtime activities between maintenance, construction, and production teams to minimize operational disruptions.
Lead electrical distribution improvement projects using design change requests, power monitoring data, and advanced detection methods.
Troubleshoot electrical system issues, conduct breaker coordination and arc flash studies, and track electrical load and capacity.
Coordinate material procurement for electrical equipment upkeep and upgrades.
Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors through project close-out.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design, optimize, and maintain facility electrical systems.
Provide technical support to facility technicians in troubleshooting electrical equipment and controllers.
Oversee equipment installation, operation, and maintenance to ensure systems meet performance and safety requirements.
Develop and issue drawings, design documentation, and reports for manufacturing, industrial, and commercial projects.
Coordinate with electrical utility providers to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructure.
Interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders.
Essential Skills
5+ years of professional experience in designing or supporting commercial or industrial power systems.
Primary experience with electrical and power distribution systems (
Working knowledge of delta and wye transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, facility lighting systems, building construction specifications, and grounding and bonding systems.
Experience with critical power infrastructure, including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches.
Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to assist technicians with rapid issue resolution.
AutoCAD and/or Revit experience (beginner to intermediate level).
Familiarity with National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, and International Building Code (IBC).
Strong understanding of construction project management principles, including scheduling, budgeting, and contractor coordination.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and perform effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with low-medium voltage systems, transformers, and facility grounding.
Ability to work in high-concentration, high-pressure environments, including extended hours and tight deadlines.
Attention to detail and ability to recognize interactions between systems to prevent downstream issues.
Background in manufacturing, oil and gas (upstream preferred), or heavy commercial sectors.
Work Environment
The role involves working under the supervision of an MEP manager, with occasional travel required to various locations. You will be part of a collaborative team that encourages growth and innovation. The position demands a flexible schedule, with the possibility of extended hours during critical project phases.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $70.00/hr.
