SUNY Maritime College Location: Bronx, NY Category: Faculty Positions Posted On: Thu Mar 19 2026 Job Description:SUNY Maritime College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Mathematics to teach courses in Applied Mathematics, or Statistics by the appointment start date. The primary teaching responsibilities will be: Precalculus, Calculus, Multivariable Calculus, and Differential Equations. Typical students are majoring in engineering, marine transportation, marine environmental science, data science and machine learning, international transportation and trade, or maritime studies, with the majority simultaneously pursuing a U.S. Coast Guard license.Candidates must show evidence of effective college-level teaching at the undergraduate level. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate education, effective teaching strategies, and the ability to support students in foundational mathematics courses.Responsibilities: Delivering lectures, conducting assessments, holding office hours, and potentially facilitating recitation sessions to reinforce key concepts Engage in scholarly activity, continuing growth and service to the department and college Job Requirements:Required Qualifications: PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Statistics by the appointment start datePreferred Qualifications: Previous experience teaching mathematics courses at the college level Additional Information:Classification: The Assistant Professor 10 Months is tenure trach UUP position. The anticipated salary will be $85,000.00 to $89,000.00 inclusive of an outstanding benefits package (for more information, please see the UUP-FT-Benefits-at-a-Glance.pdf). Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
