Description
Lee County is seeking a dependable and organized Administrative Specialist, Senior, to join our Solid Waste Department.
In this role, you will provide essential administrative and office support to help keep the department running smoothly. You will assist staff with paperwork, records, scheduling, payroll entry, and day-to-day tasks that ensure efficient operations. Your work will support the team and help maintain clear, accurate documentation across the department.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed office work, communicates well, and takes pride in being reliable and organized.
Duties and Responsibilities
What You Will Do
Offer information and answer general questions from employees
Perform payroll duties in Kronos, including checking timesheets for errors, entering payroll data, tracking sick/vacation time, and creating reports
Assist new employees with completing required paperwork
Review, verify, and process administrative forms submitted by staff
Provide support to office personnel regarding procedures and software programs
Coordinate the purchase of hardware and software for department staff
Create and maintain databases and reports, and assist with public records research
Maintain and update components of the Solid Waste intranet webpage
Scan and electronically file documents and records
Attend committee and staff meetings, take notes, and prepare detailed meeting minutes
Prepare travel documentation such as registrations, flights, and hotel reservations
Answer a multi-line phone system, assist walk-ins, distribute mail, coordinate meetings, reserve conference rooms, and support daily office operations, including data entry, filing, typing, mailing, copying, scanning, and report preparation
Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed
Assist staff with developing training materials and conduct training when required
Perform other related duties as assigned
Education, Experience, Licensing
What We're Looking For
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to an associate degree in business administration, public administration, finance, or a related field
One (1) year of clerical, administrative, or office support experience
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Ability to stay organized, manage multiple tasks, and work independently
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills and Qualities
College degree or post-secondary vocational coursework
Experience with Microsoft Office
Experience using Word, Excel, Smartsheet, and Kronos
Ability to research information and prepare clear reports
Strong attention to detail and comfort working with frequent interruptions
Ability to communicate with coworkers, customers, and vendors by email, phone, and text
Positive attitude and strong customer-service skills
