About Pendleton Correctional Facility:
As a part of the Indiana Department of Correction, the Pendleton Correctional Facility promotes public safety by providing meaningful, effective opportunities for successful re-entry. The Pendleton Correctional Facility is a maximum security Correctional facility, of adult males. The Pendleton Correctional Facility is located in Pendleton, Indiana. At Pendleton Correctional Facility, incarcerated individuals can participate in educational courses that teach them to read and allow them to earn a GED. Incarcerated individuals can receive substance abuse treatment, participate in parenting classes, stress and anger management courses, and can even learn vocational skills in auto body repair and printing.
Role Overview:
As a Correctional Casework Manager at the Pendleton Correctional Facility , you will supervise, train, and review the performance of Correctional Caseworkers. You will also manage a caseload of incarcerated individuals, assessing their risk and needs to develop, implement, and review their case plan.
Salary Statement:
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $47,320.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Provide immediate supervision to your Correctional Caseworker team for adherence to policy and procedure through the use of routine CQI assessments.
Supervise, train, coach, and review the performance of correctional caseworkers assigned to the unit team, assess individual strengths and weaknesses, utilize regular evaluations and frequent informal reviews of staff performance in accordance with the standards, guidelines and policies of the Department and State Personnel Department.
Assess each assigned offender's risks and needs utilizing the Individual Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS).
Coordinate with all appropriate facility staff to address re-entry and release issues.
Provide group and individual programming for re-entry and release as required.
Coordinate with the classification department staff to make appropriate classification recommendations for offenders.
Conduct unit orientation for newly received offenders.
Motivate and guide offenders towards positive, prosocial change by using creative approaches to strengthen relationships and reduce environmental risk factors.
Maintain high security standards in the unit and facility.

This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours which may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary.
What You'll Need for Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
Within 90 days of hire, you must obtain the Indiana Risk Assessment System Certification through the Indiana Office of Court Services.
Must test negative on all drug screenings.
Upon hire, the ability to successfully complete all mandatory training, including all IRIS and Case Management specific training,?DOC Supervisory Training Program, First Aid, and CPR courses.
Ability to write records of offenders.
Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage the work of the staff.
Ability to establish a working relationship with staff and offenders.
Knowledge and ability to utilize conflict resolution techniques.
A degree is not required. However, a High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE) and at least 2+ years of experience in social work, corrections, criminal justice, or related field applying the outlined knowledge, skills, and abilities in a similar role may be considered.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports:
This role provides supervision for incarcerated individuals and requires a high level of judgment and care.
This role may provide direct supervision for one or more staff members.
