National Accounts Manager - Retail Resources (Long Island, NY)

As a National Account Manager , you will serve as a strategic business leader responsible for driving profitable growth, strengthening customer relationships, ensuring strong operational execution, and expanding Bunzl's footprint with assigned key national retail customers. You will own full responsibility for managing an account portfolio totaling at least $10M in annual revenue, which may include one large national customer or a group of assigned accounts.

To be successful in role, you need to be accountable for both protecting and growing your assigned business. This includes identifying and securing new customers, expanding organic revenue within existing accounts, managing overall financial health, and delivering a minimum of 10% year-over-year growth across your portfolio.

In this role, you will sell Retail Resources products and programs, including packaging, store supplies, and operational consumables that support the daily needs of retail environments. You will work with national and multi-location retail customers and big box stores, helping them maintain consistency, efficiency, and reliability across their operations. By collaborating closely with internal partners across Sourcing, Category Management, Operations, Finance, Marketing, Branch Leadership, Business Development, and Customer Support, you ensure customer programs are executed effectively and consistently.

You will travel regularly to customer headquarters and field locations across the United States to support relationship management, business reviews, and program execution. When not visiting customers or field stakeholders, you will work out of our Bethpage, NY branch location.

Responsibilities

Own full responsibility for a $10M+ national account portfolio, including growth, profitability, and retention

Deliver a minimum of 10% year-over-year revenue growth across assigned accounts

Identify, win, and onboard new customer opportunities while expanding spend within existing customers

Develop and execute annual account plans, including revenue, margin, pipeline, and risk strategies

Build and maintain strong executive and operational relationships with national retail customers

Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), including financial analysis and performance insights

Manage pricing strategy, forecasting, contracts, renewals, and RFPs from start to finish

Maintain strong margins, clean A/R performance, and disciplined inventory management

Act as the central liaison between customers and internal teams (Sales, Operations, Sourcing, Finance, Customer Service)

Partner cross-functionally to support new programs, product initiatives, and supply continuity

Provide leadership and mentorship to the assigned National Account Coordinator (NAC)

Maintain accurate CRM data, pipeline visibility, and reporting discipline

Represent Bunzl at customer meetings, site visits, and industry events

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED required.

Bachelor's degree strongly preferred

Successful sales experience in retail, food & beverage, grocery, packaging or another relatable field strongly preferred

Previous people leadership or demonstrated peer leadership experience

Strong track record in managing relationships and delivering tangible results

Must be competitive, driven and self-motivated

Ability to think critically/strategically and problem solve using creative solutions

Strong financial acumen (understanding impact of targets and objectives, cause/effect of specific actions)

Able to manage multiple projects and objectives simultaneously

Outstanding customer service skills and the ability to work in a team setting with a diverse group of employees, managers and outside stakeholders;

Exceptional analytical, organizational and oral/written communication skills in order to successfully sell Bunzl's value proposition;

Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office products such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, TEAMs and CoPilot required;

Significant travel is required; be willing to travel nationally to multiple locations as needed.

Bunzl target salary range: $80,00- $120,000 + bonus, based on experience & education.
