Marketing Statement:
The ADA Quality Assurance Specialist supports WMATA¿s mission to deliver an accessible transit experience by actively monitoring the condition and performance of customer¿facing accessibility features and equipment. In this role, the Specialist conducts routine field reviews, documents and tracks defects, and contributes to remediation efforts by coordinating with maintenance and operational teams to ensure timely resolution. The position also involves collecting and analyzing accessibility¿related data, sharing findings with internal stakeholders, and applying technical knowledge to strengthen compliance and improve service reliability. Through these efforts, the Specialist helps maintain ADA standards and enhances the daily experience of customers who rely on accessible transit services.

High school diploma or general education equivalency (GED)
Experience
A minimum of six (6) years¿ experience with quality assurance and/or compliance with math emphasis

Job Summary
The American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all WMATA customer-facing accessibility features and equipment are maintained in working order. When an accessibility feature or piece of equipment is found not to be in working order, the ADA Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for reporting such finding, and for proper follow up with responsible parties to ensure prompt repair.
Essential Functions
Conducts an annual quality assurance inspection of each WMATA Metrorail station.
Documents station ADA violations, notifies applicable offices of necessary repairs, and monitors progress of repairs.
Identifies compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation.
Assists in coordinating ADA requirements for the provision of accessible services for persons with disabilities on buses, MetroAccess, and rail services.
Conducts platform-to-train gap inspections on an as-needed basis.
Coordinates Federal Transit Administration (FTA) inspections of WMATA rail stations, and accompanies FTA inspection teams during inspections.
Participates in internal training and external outreach activities. Keeps up-to-date technically and applies new knowledge to one¿s job.
Analyzes quality control test results and provides feedback and interpretation to production management or staff. Communicates quality control information to all relevant organizational departments, outside vendors, or contractors. Monitors performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency.
Conducts interim and final acceptance inspections of new vehicles.
Conducts or directs the internal investigation of compliance issues. Conducts periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed. Conducts surveys, ride checks, and ADA-related customer service field work to measure service quality for customers with disabilities.
Other Functions
Coordinates meetings of focus groups, task forces, and ad-hoc committees involved in programs, special projects, or activities related to persons with disabilities and ADA Compliance projects.
Coordinates review of plans and specifications for Standards for Transportation Facilities and ADA Standards for Accessible Design content.
Determines whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Disseminates written policies and procedures related to compliance activities.
Files appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies. Reports violations of compliance or regulatory standards to duly authorized enforcement agencies as appropriate or required. Maintains documentation of compliance activities, such as complaints received or investigation outcomes.
Participates in the development of product specifications. Performs research, analyses, and studies related to bus, paratransit, and rail quality assurance items.
Provides technical advice and assistance on the requirements of the ADA and related federal and state disabilities laws and regulations.
Reviews statistical studies, technological advances, or regulatory standards and trends to stay abreast of issues in the field of quality control. Reviews ADA and other regulatory content for new equipment used in revenue service.
Serves as a confidential point of contact for employees to communicate with management, seeks clarification on issues or dilemmas, or reports irregularities.
