Nurse Extern - Float Pool Boulder Community Health, Boulder, CO 80303 $23.03 an hour - Per Diem Nights, Various hours per week. +2.50/hr for weekend shifts and $5/hr for night shift. Boulder Community Health is seeking a Nurse Extern for Nursing Resources who performs duties and tasks that assist the caregivers and promote effective departmental functioning. Assists RN and Unit in providing a safe, organized and efficient healthcare environment. Direct patient care functions are under the direction of the RN/LPN. Benefits: -403(b)Retirement plan -Education assistance program -Staff Support Initiatives such as Sound Baths, Meditation, Massages, and Reiki -Free one-on-one retirement planning sessions -Employee Assistance Program offering 8 free, confidential counseling sessions for you and your family Qualifications -Currently enrolled in accredited nursing program -Completed 1st year of a 2-year nursing program, or 3rd year of a 4-year baccalaureate nursing program, or equivalent for accelerated programs. Must complete clinical rotations in Medical/Surgical unit. -Must be able to provide documentation of class courses and competencies completed in 1st year of nursing school for validation. -CNA certification or equivalent certification is preferred. Equivalent certifications include: EMT, MA, Military Medic or completion of 1st year of nursing core classes (not prerequisites for nursing school). -BLS certification required by the end of conditional period. Responsibilities -Promotes a patient safety culture and participates with other departments in achieving core measures, evidence and best practice initiatives. -Identifies own learning needs and expands knowledge base through clinical practice and self-directed learning. -Promotes Service Excellence. -Supports and ensures compliance with hospital, division, and departmental policies. -Familiar with organization, department and job specific environment of care policies, including life safety, utilities management, hazardous material communication, emergency preparedness Infection Prevention and medical equipment failure. -Implements interventions based on the Plan of Care, priority of patient's needs and desired outcome, guidelines/standards of care, and agency policy and procedures. Increased complexity of assignments are assigned based on demonstrated competencies. Can perform selected procedures under the direction and supervision of a RN/LPN. -Evaluates practice in relation to professional standards, statues, regulations, hospital and departmental policies, and standards of care. -Practices proper HIPAA compliance and performs other duties as assigned.
