Overview
Bowhead seeks a Senior Cloud Systems Engineer to join our team supporting NIWC Atlantic.
The Cloud Systems Engineer will work directly with the project team, team lead, and client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and lead or collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and program analysts within a scaled agile environment. The candidate should also be able to support project presentations, the development and delivery of presentation material and be comfortable in briefing settings.
The Cloud Systems Engineer will: Design, develop, and manage cloud-based infrastructure, applications, and services. Ensure the smooth functioning of an organization's cloud infrastructure. Work closely with other IT professionals, such as developers, architects, and system administrators, to design, implement, and maintain cloud-based solutions. Migrate applications, optimizes resources, and ensures data security and compliance.
This position is 100% onsite. No hybrid/flex or remote work schedules are permitted for this effort.
Responsibilities
Design and manage cloud infrastructure in an Azure environment
Integrate Virtual Desktop Infrastructure within the Azure environment
Configure and integrate Cisco networking infrastructure as part of the cloud environment
Evaluate legacy applications and systems to determine viability to be migrated or transferred to cloud services.
Implement and manage cloud-based systems for business use and help debug cloud stacks. Collaborate with engineering and development teams to evaluate and identify optimal solutions.
Detailed knowledge of Azure Cloud Architecture & Integration, DevSecOps Automation & Optimization, Application & Database Designs, and Software Development Lifecycle & Tools. Detailed understanding of FEDRAMP.
Experience with migrating Core Applications and systems to the Cloud. Detailed understanding of DOD Cloud Provisional Authorization process.
Detailed knowledge of the DoD Cloud Computing FRD and SRG.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
Ten (10) years of direct work experience.
DoDD 8570 IAT Level II Certification (e.g., Security plus certification).
Experience designing and deploying workloads on Azure.
Experience designing and deploying on SaaS cloud environments.
At least six (6) years of specialized experience on high visible or mission critical projects within DoD. Experience with Navy or Marine Corps programs a plus.
Proven ability to work on high visible or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently.
Ability to manage the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific task.
Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, Government personnel, and other stakeholders.
Strong interpersonal skills, good judgment, and the ability to lead a team or perform independently.
Ability to travel up to 25%, CONUS and OCONUS
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI clearance.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift, move, and position equipment in both indoor and outdoor environments, including on uneven or natural surfaces.
Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
Must be able to lean, crouch, twist, bend, and squat as needed to inspect or analyze network infrastructure.
Must be able to work outdoors in deployed environments and perform duties in adverse weather conditions, including cold, rain, snow, and heat.
