Our Factory Operations Supervisor is responsible for direct supervision of the manufacturing activities and employees in our Pistol Plant. This person is responsible and accountable for department quality, productivity/cost, safety, employee involvement, and delivery. Communicates expectations and initiates corrective action when goals in these areas are not met. Also functions as a coach and communicator keeping staff up to date on company and department information.
This position reports to the Factory Operations Manager and is based out of our Anoka Location.
Shift: (Q) Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and every other Thursday 7:00pm-7:00am
You have:
High School Diploma or GED; Post high school education preferred
1+ years' experience in a leadership role (preferably in a manufacturing environment)
Ability to manage a work team in a manner that achieves continuous improvement utilizing employee cooperation/involvement and group problem solving
Possesses strong communication skills with the ability to make effective group presentations as well as hold individual feedback sessions
Ability to make logical decisions in a dynamic, and at times ambiguous, work environment
Experience with MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
No disciplinary action at Report of Conference level or above in past 12 months

Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Business or related discipline
What you'll do:
Directly supervises all department associates with respect to cost and quality of production, and meeting production schedules and delivery dates.
Manages all safety issues in the department ensuring that goals are met; anticipates and acts on potential safety problems, completes investigations and reports on a timely basis.
Ensures continuous improvement in utilization of plant equipment and facilities recommending and implementing changes in production methods and material handling procedures when necessary.
Manages all human resources activities/issues for department in an effective and timely manner, conferring with manufacturing manager and Human Resources as needed; ensures that all actions are within established Equal Opportunity Employment and Affirmative Action guidelines and company policies.
Confers with Master Scheduler in establishment of schedules that balance customer service with plant efficiency.
Participates in the recommendation and planning process for purchase of new capital equipment; manages improvement projects for assigned production area.
Collects output data from each operation throughout the shift and takes appropriate action when variances are found.
Manages all preventive maintenance activities for assigned production areas.
Manages the WIP levels to ensure plan is met as well as production efficiency requirements.
Manages staffing levels and activities on an on-going basis in cooperation with other departments.
Communicates daily with all direct reports as well as peer supervisors to ensure critical information is transferred both ways and to create and maintain an environment of shared commitment and cooperation.
Physical Requirements: Walking the production floor including standing approximately 50%. Sitting in office or meetings approximately 40 - 50% of the time. Lifting and carrying files, etc. of up to 10 pounds. Some heavier lifting/pushing/pulling (35-40 pounds) infrequently required to help move stock. Occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling and crouching to effectively observe machinery. Manual dexterity for operating personal computer.
Mental Requirements: Good reading skills to understand reports, spreadsheets, and technical literature. Problem-solving, reasoning and attention to detail to plan and assess staffing levels, machine capacities, inventory management, and feasibility of schedule attainment. Math comprehension of basic algebra to understand prints and machine setup. Verbal communication for employee direction, supervision, and section meeting presentations. Written communication for memos, progress reports, e-mails, personnel documentation. Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Equipment Used: Manufacturing equipment, personal computer, copy machine, calculator, telephone, mobile phone, video equipment, and protective equipment.
Working Environment: Considerable time 50 - 60 % is spent in the manufacturing plant. This exposure subjects incumbent to temperature changes, dirt, dust, noise, vibration, moving objects and mechanical parts, machine tool lubricant mists, equipment and explosive hazards. Approximately 40-50% of the time is spent in the office and in meeting facilities. Some travel to other locations may be required. Some weekend and extended shift overtime required based on department demands. Some overlapping and alternating shiftwork required.
Work Environment:
Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.
Pay Range:
$75,800.00 - $106,000.00
The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
