Summary You will serve as an Electrician in the Electrical/Electronic Shop (Code 950), Production Resources Department Manager (Code 901), Production Resources Department) Code 900) at NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will perform the installation, electrical hook-up, and check-out of interior communications systems, alarm systems, power and lighting systems, motors, generators, and switchboards. You will lay out work from blueprints and technical drawings, installing essential infrastructure such as wireways, cable racks, and associated cabling to interconnect the ship's electrical systems. You will troubleshoot, repair, and/or replace damaged or faulty electrical components, assemblies, and circuitry to identify and resolve system issues. You will work with test directors, using blueprints and technical manuals to test electrical systems and ensure they meet operational performance guidelines. You will coordinate and arrange the work of several trades based on blueprints, specifications, and instructions to complete assigned tasks efficiently. Ability to safely and effectively operate a variety of power equipment (such as drill presses and hydraulic punches) and hand tools (like grinders and wrenches). Ability to apply electrical trade theory and concepts to perform both routine and complex tasks across all disciplines of the trade with minimal supervision.
