Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Azusa, California. This Contract to permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to manage accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and financial tracking across multiple associations. Working within a small team environment, this role provides visibility into full-cycle accounting and the chance to cross-train on larger entities.

Responsibilities:

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, check runs, and coding.

Record and review journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Assist in preparing financial reports and monitoring budget performance.

Perform bank and credit card reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.

Manage financial operations for multiple small associations, each with specific checking accounts and transaction volumes.

Utilize Sage software for accounting functions and maintain advanced Excel spreadsheets for formulas and budgeting.

Support month-end closing processes in coordination with audits and reporting timelines.

Verify prior financial records for accuracy and resolve discrepancies.

Learn vendor procedures and streamline invoice workflows.

Collaborate with team members for opportunities to cross-train and enhance skills in managing larger entities. Requirements - Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Comprehensive knowledge of reconciliations, general accounting, and journal entry management.

Proficiency in Sage accounting software and advanced Excel skills, including formulas and budgeting.

Strong understanding of general ledger functions and corporate tax-related processes.

Ability to work effectively in a small team environment while managing multiple entities.

Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure financial accuracy.

Familiarity with nonprofit tax-exempt structures and public sector accounting is a plus.

Willingness to adapt and grow within the role, including cross-training opportunities.
