Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the SUB PIPING & MECH (CODE 265), FLUID/MECH ENGRG & PLANNING DIV (CODE 265), ENGINEERING & PLANNING DEPARTMENT (CODE 200) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will coordinate one or more of the various Engineering processes applying a wide range of engineering or architectural theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods. You will review engineering and production work to ensure that all requirements and safety concerns are met. You will recommend design modifications to eliminate malfunctions or improve performance. You will keep abreast of all engineering developments. You will will discuss and resolve conflicts and issues that arise in connection with the work performed Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience applying knowledge of related engineering fields (structural, mechanical, industrial, metallurgy, hydraulics, chemical, electrical, quality, radiological control) to an extent of informed communication and collaboration. Experience applying expert knowledge of concepts principles and practices of engineering. Experience applying theory, principles and practices, and technics of engineering relating to repair, overhaul, and testing of nuclear/ non-nuclear, electronic/electrical fluid, and mechanical system components. Experience providing engineering design services for complex repair, overhaul or conversion of submarine secondary propulsion plant systems Including but not limited to main steam, aux steam, feed and condensate, lubrication oil stowage handling and transfer, high pressure air, hydraulics, steering and civing, plumbing an all associated equipment and hardware. Experience developing engineering instructions and procedures for accomplishing overhaul & repair work to include developing new approaches, modifying standard approaches and techniques. Experience functioning as the technical authority and providing consultation on critical issues. Experience utilizing knowledge of design and operational engineering theory, instrumentation and control equipment systems. Experience applying specific knowledge on special emphasis Certification Program Work (SUBSAFE, Deep Submergence Systems - Scope of Certification DSS-SOC, Fly by Wire FBW), Level I and Steam Plant Cleanliness.
