The CUNY School of Medicine (CUNY SoM) located in the heart of Harlem, New York, is the only medical school in the City University of New York system and the only public medical school in Manhattan. Building upon 50 years of success as the Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education, the institution transitioned to the CUNY School of Medicine (SoM) in 2016. The CUNY SoM offers an accelerated BS/MD degree (7-year program) and a Physician Assistant Master's Degree (27 months program). Reporting to the Department Chair of Clinical Medicine, the Administrative Specialist will provide administrative support for various aspects of the clinical clerkship and across multiple clinical sites (hospitals). The coordinator will regularly communicate with students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders regarding logistics and requirements of the clinical program.
In addition to the above summary and CUNY Title overview, the duties include:
Direct and provide leadership and oversight in the planning, administration and operation of all Department of Clinical Medicine functions.
Support the recruitment, of all affiliated faculty in compliance with LCME accreditation standards in cooperation with Human Resources which processes affiliate faculty appointments and maintains a database of appointments across affiliate institutions.
Oversee processing of affiliation agreements from clinical sites both inside and outside CUNY School of Medicine in consultation with the Chair of Clinical Medicine.
Assist with, assessing affiliated clinical site program educational objectives and making recommendations to senior administration to improve compliance with accreditation standards and reporting requirements.
Coordinate with the site visit team to affiliated MD and PA schools' clinical sites. Contribute input regarding educational objectives and promoting scholarly activities.
Develop and effectively manage project timelines.
Assist the department Chair with managing other roles including internal medicine clerkship and other educational activities.
Assist with GME related activities, including scheduling, promoting and organizing skills.
Facilitate presentations and other materials for use during program related events and professional meetings and conferences
Liaison with CUNY School of Medicine affiliate clinical site coordinators and supervisors throughout the year.
Collaborate with other CUNY School of Medicine clerkship, sub internship, M4 elective departments.
Other duties as assigned by the department chair of Clinical Medicine
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.
Preferred:
Two years' experience in medical education (preferably in a hospital setting) highly desired
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with faculty, staff, and students
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal effectively with all levels of faculty and staff, both within and beyond CSOM
Time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and accurately complete tasks independently
Ability to deal effectively and congenially with faculty, students, and staff members.
Ability to maintain confidential files and information, and communicate with professional discretion is essential.
CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW

Oversees department operations and assists management in planning department activities, creating schedules, assigning staff and preparing and delivering department communications.
Works with appropriate offices related to personnel recruitment, expediting search activities.

Supervises and trains support staff and student workers.
Manages budget and coordinates purchasing, accounting, and payroll.
Provides instructions and basic advice to students, faculty, and others seeking information on department activities, policies, and schedules.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary Range: $57,252 - $98,995
Salary commensurate with education and experience.
