Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join the team in the Nursing Department as a Licensed Practical Nurse! You could join the group of other medical professionals who perform the nursing and care of inmates within a state correctional facility. Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Practical Nurse license, a temporary permit, or a multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Provide direct patient care, including comfort, hygiene, safety, nutrition, and overall well-being, under RN or senior LPN guidance.
Monitor and assess patients, promptly reporting changes in physical or mental status to the healthcare team.
Collect specimens, perform diagnostic tests, and accurately record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
Administer medications and treatments safely, following established protocols and documenting care accurately.
Participate in shift handovers, ensuring continuity of care and clear communication with the team.
Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, maintaining safety and efficiency.
Respond to emergencies, including performing CPR and first aid as needed.
Manage inventory and supplies, requesting and restocking medications and equipment to support patient care.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type: PROBATION, or PROMOTION OF A PERMANENT, CLASSIFIED LOUISIANA STATE EMPLOYEE
Current permanent status classified LA State employees may be required to accept a probational appointment if accepted.
An employee selected for a promotion may be required to serve a trial detail prior to being permanently promoted.
This posting may also be used to fill a vacancy as a temporary job appointment. If filled as a temporary job appointment, should a permanent position become available, the employee may be converted to a probational appointment.
Compensation: This position has aSpecial Entrance Rate (SER) at each level. However, the salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
Licensed Practical Nurse 1 has an SER of $19.48 per hour
Licensed Practical Nurse 2 has an SER of$20.84 per hour
Licensed Practical Nurse 3 has an SER of $22.30 per hour
This position also offers premium pay at a rate of$5.00 per hour for each hour worked, in addition to regular pay.
Career Progression Group: Licensed Practical Nurse 1, 2, or 3
Filled at the highest level of experience of the selected applicant.
Salary depends on level of experience.
