Summary This position is organizationally aligned under Division of the Nutrition and Food Division located at the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI (695) - a Level 1a Complexity VHA Facility. The primary purpose of the position is to provide administrative and customer service support for the VA hospital food service program and to perform Leader duties. Responsibilities Major duties and responsibilities include: Provides leadership to 7.4 FTEE Health Technician (Dietetic), GS-0640-05 positions Distribute and balance the workload among employees in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each employee has enough work to keep busy Keep in touch with the status and progress of work, and make day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise Estimate and report on expected time of completion of work, and maintain records of work accomplishments and time expended and prepare production reports as requested Instruct employees in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies Give on the job training to new employees in accordance with established procedures and practices Maintain a current knowledge and answer questions of other employees on procedures, policies, directives, etc., and obtain needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that arise Check on work in progress or spot check work not requiring review Amend or reject work not meeting established standards, refer to supervisor questions or matters not covered by standards and problems in meting performance standards Monitor working conditions such as seating, ventilation, lighting, safety, etc. Respond to call-ins by modifying assignments, calling in alternate staff, implementing established overtime procedures, or implementing other established procedures for coverage Resolve simple, informal complaints of employees and refer other to supervisor Practice excellent customer service skills in all forms of communication Has thorough knowledge of basic and routine modified diets and is able to provide basic-level education and information on local facility therapeutic diets to patients, guests, and nursing staff NCC Associate is responsible for the independent and accurate transfer of information received via COTS Dietetics In the event the COTS Dietetics software program is inoperable, and meal tickets may not be printed, the NCC Associate will generate the appropriate paper ticket for each meal service and complete all tickets for all modified diet combinations as part of the facility's contingency plan Prints lists, reports, labels, and tray tickets following the established local facility procedures Performs other duties as assigned Work Schedule: Variable, Weekends and Holidays, as scheduled Virtual: This is not a virtual position.
