Amazon Flex is at the forefront of delivery operations, owning a significant piece of Amazon's "Last Mile" delivery strategy for now & into the future. The Flex model utilizes independent contractors to help fulfill "Ultrafast" customer deliveries including Amazon Grocery, Sub-same-day Amazon.com orders and beyond. Our Finance team works closely with Tech, Product & Program Managers to track performance reporting and support analysis for optimization of pricing, labor planning, and routing, which help improve customer quality and reduce costs.
With a rapidly expanding team & scope, we are looking for a Finance Manager who is a strategic thinker and creative problem solver to support this hyper-growth business as part of the Flex Ops Finance team. This role partners with leadership to create business forecasts and criticial financial plans to measure performance against. This role requires strategic and analytical decision making to evaluate and prioritize projects or initiatives while working closely with cross-functional leaders across the Last Mile organization and internal Amazon businesses, allowing for future opportunities to expand scope. This role requires a self-starter with strong business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail and good track record of influencing business partners. This role has regular interaction with senior leadership and stakeholders across Amazon and requires strong verbal and written communication skills. The candidate will need to be capable of operating with a high degree of autonomy, and hence needs to demonstrate a high degree of comfort with ambiguity besides holding a high bar on professional integrity.
Key job responsibilities
Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.
Querying (basic SQL preferred) and analyzing a broad array of financial and operations metrics, and translating discoveries into actionable insights.
Educate business partners on financial and non-financial trade-offs and provide guidance and financial analysis for new projects and initiatives. You make thoughtful judgement calls in ambiguous environments where data may be scarce or difficult to procure.
Identify opportunities to resolve defects proactively. Improve, scale, or simplify finance tools across teams and organizations.
Participate in hiring, developing, and mentoring peers and team members.

About the team
Our teams is a strategic partner to the NA Flex org. We perform critical analyses and deliver insights to support decision making, and translate decisions back into financial narratives and plans. We also partner closely with our sibling finance teams: WW Flex FP&A, WW Strategy, and APAC/EU Flex Finance to exchange best practices and continuously improve the quality and completeness of our craft, and to ensure that financial plans are in lock step with the business.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science)
5+ years of finance experience, or Master's degree and 3+ years of finance experience
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, or CPA
6+ years of identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience
6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience
Knowledge of SQL/ETL
Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)
Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
