The MNIT MDH team provides services for over 250+ applications and delivers the information technology to drive one of the leading public health systems in the nation. You will support an agency that works to protect, maintain, and improve the health of all Minnesotans.
The Cloud Infrastructure Team Lead provides leadership and technical expertise for Minnesota IT Services partnering with Minnesota Department of Health's (MNIT MDH) Microsoft Server and Cloud Infrastructure environment. This position leads a team responsible for managing and maintaining critical infrastructure services, including Microsoft servers, Active Directory, AWS-hosted Microsoft services, storage, and back-up systems. The role ensures these services are secure, reliable, and aligned with organizational needs.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and mentoring technical staff to deliver efficient and effective infrastructure services.
Overseeing the development, operation, and maintenance of Microsoft Server and AWS environments.
Supporting business-critical applications that rely on these infrastructures.
Driving strategic planning, disaster recovery, and security compliance.
Evaluating emerging technologies and recommending improvements to enhance system performance and reliability.
This position requires an employee to be onsite at 625 Robert Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota at least 50% of the time, with some opportunity to perform work from a telework location. Minimum Qualifications

Position requires a minimum of four (4) years of IT related experience in managing Microsoft Server environments and Active Directory, and supporting AWS-hosted Microsoft services and virtualization technologies.
Experience must include:
Experience administering and troubleshooting Microsoft Server operating systems and Active Directory.
Experience as a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) or in a closely related role performing SRE responsibilities.
Experience using scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation and system management.
Production experience running containerized .NET applications within either Kubernetes or AWS ECS.
Familiarity with DevOps principles and automation in cloud environments.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a manner that facilitates mutual understanding.
Customer-focused approach grounded in active listening, empathy, and solution-oriented problem-solving to deliver positive user experiences.
Education in Information Technology (IT) or an IT related field may substitute for experience as follows: a master's degree for eighteen (18) months of experience; a bachelor's degree for one (1) year; and an associate's degree for six (6) months.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring within an IT team environment.
Experience with AWS native Microsoft services such as FSx, Windows containers, or AppStream.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, AWS Solutions Architect, Security+).
Experience coordinating vendor or contractor work for infrastructure projects.
