Northrop Grumman Strategic Deterrent Systems division in Roy, UT is seeking a Principal / Sr. Principal Electrical Systems Test Engineer to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be part of our Air Vehicle Equipment (AVE) Integration and Test (I&T) team to plan and execute vehicle level integration, test and checkout activities supporting the Sentinel program.
What you'll get to do:
Synthesize system and test requirements into verification requirements, test objectives, success criteria, and required resources for system level tests and demonstrations
Support the development of test requirements and detailed integration test plans, test procedures, test readiness reviews (TRRs), test data and test reports
Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment
Interface with software developers and systems engineers in support of flight hardware integration and test activities.
Review test plans, procedures, and reports
Witness and verify testing as the Cognizant Engineer
Execution of Air Vehicle and integrated sub-system qualification and acceptance testing in preparation for developmental flight testing
Integrate hardware, software, and avionics received from sub-system teams
Participate in internal and customer test planning working groups
Support program reviews and customer delivery (CDRL) development
Compile data and define changes required in test equipment, test procedures, or test requirements
Collaborate with systems engineers, testing houses, development engineers and other stakeholders involved in the testing process
Participate in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers (internal/external) and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables
Execute tests and manage and prioritize problems/failures
Review and evaluate test results and provide summary reports
Work with cross functional, multi-discipline teams at the element, system, and segment level
Identify configurations to support test and prototyping of developing Air Vehicle systems
Perform data analysis of input, internal, and output message data
Document test results and prepare test status documentation
Create Test Discrepancy Reports to document issues
Develop troubleshooting procedures
Interface with other internal engineering groups to develop and improve internal processes and procedures
Maintain test equipment documentation and follow configuration management requirements
Participate in test facility stand-up activities, including operations and process development
Although primary location is Roy, UT , the candidate will be required to travel to Promontory, UT , and at times, Vandenberg Space Force Base (VSFB) or other specific test facilities, for the execution of the overall test campaign and various development test activities. This may require second shift work as well as working multiple weeks at a time at those facilities.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Systems Test Engineer: Bachelor's degree and 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Sr. Principal Systems Test Engineer: Bachelor's degree and 8 years of related experience, 6 years of experience with a Master's degree; 4 years with a PhD; 4 additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
For Both:
Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance, at time of application, current and within scope, with an investigation date within the last 6 years and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.
Working knowledge of system integration (hardware and software) and test principles
Experience developing and executing integrated hardware and software testing
Experience defining test objectives based on test requirements, VCRM and interface and specification documentation
Experience with data collection/instrumentation (methods, setup, checkout, and troubleshooting)
Experience in troubleshooting anomalous hardware and software
Experience with development of test plans, procedures, and reports (functional testing and checkout)
Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management
Experience with or workable knowledge of RF communications and signals processing/analysis
Experience with or workable knowledge of electrical systems, including power distribution, grounding, and ESD protection
Preferred Qualifications:
Active DoD Top Secret/SCI level clearance granted or re-investigated within last 6 years
Experience working with or designing Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) or Automated Test equipment (development and execution)
Experience with developing/leading technologies and integrating them into aerospace vehicle systems for defense applications
Experience with aerodynamic performance of missiles and construction of materials
Understanding of aerodynamics, vehicle dynamics, and control
Flight Test Instrumentation design/development experience
Experience in design, maintenance, and/or troubleshooting of test cables, test sets and support equipment
Experience with Model Based System Engineering with an understanding of DODAF and SysML
Proficiency in DOORS and Cameo
Experience with LabVIEW and/or UEI
Experience working with the Atlassian Suite of tools (Confluence, Jira)
Experience with integration and test of large-scale vehicles or weapon systems
Experience as acting Test Conductor/Lead during test procedure execution
Familiarity with ICBMs

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
