Summary The position serves as a Health Science Specialist (HSS) in the Million Veteran Program (MVP), Chair Office. MVP is an Office of Research and Development (ORD) funded program that establishes a national longitudinal cohort of Veterans for genetic and observational research. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform portions of the work. However, there is periodic walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items such as medical records, instructional material, books and manuals. Major Duties: Manage the development of process maps for key functions across all domains within MVP to identify areas for process improvement, such as process/document streamlining and reduction/elimination of redundant processes/documents. Manage the MVP Quality Management System Document Control process by ensuring timely review and approval of documentation updates, accurate level of detail, accurate accounting of cross-domain impact, and manage version control/archive processes. Execute the document control process by coordinating availability of the draft documents in the SharePoint platform and will perform QA review of document updates. Utilize project management skills to coordinate ongoing inter-domain documentation and process improvement efforts within the various MVP domains. Monitor compliance and conduct assessments and prepare reports for necessary continuity. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. Individual Occupational Requirements for General Medical and Healthcare Series, GS-601: Education: Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree; major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained;; AND Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-11 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience is defined as Maintaining standard operating procedures and work instructions. Experience in project management and process improvement efforts. Experience in monitoring compliance, conducting assessments, preparing reports. Experience in monitoring and evaluating research processes and communicating findings. OR Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a field directly related to the position.
