Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Hillsborough, California. This role is ideal for a candidate passionate about accounting processes, payroll management, and financial accuracy within the hospitality industry. As a Contract to permanent position, it offers a great opportunity to showcase your skills and grow within the organization.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and maintain financial records, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.
Process payroll on a semi-monthly basis, including onboarding new employees and maintaining payroll documentation.
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and review financial data to ensure consistency and accuracy.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities, including vendor payments and member billing inquiries.
Perform monthly billing, collections, and related activities for member and non-member accounts.
Generate and distribute federal forms such as W-2s, 1099s, and other annual reports in a timely manner.
Maintain pension records and prepare spreadsheets for 401(k) distributions.
Monitor employee benefits eligibility and ensure accurate deductions and reconciliation with insurance billing.
Scan and approve vendor invoices, ensuring proper coding and resolving billing discrepancies.
Collaborate with human resources to coordinate new permanent paperwork and benefits enrollment. Requirements - A minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
Proficiency in managing journal entries, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
Strong knowledge of billing processes and payroll laws.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer and member service.
Familiarity with time and attendance tracking, as well as vacation and sick leave reporting.
