Position Summary:
This position centers on teaching online courses for the School of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering, with a primary focus on cardiovascular systems. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, emphasizing student engagement, accessibility, and academic success in virtual learning environments.
The appointee will work closely with students across disciplines, helping them connect foundational engineering principles to cardiovascular applications. Candidates with expertise in areas such as cardiovascular fluid dynamics, vascular prosthetics and bioprosthetic design, cardiovascular solid mechanics, vascular tissue assessment, therapeutic technologies, regenerative approaches, vascular disease detection, and cardiovascular biomaterials are encouraged to apply, particularly as these areas inform innovative course development and student learning experiences.
In this role, the faculty member will strengthen the Department's online educational portfolio, mentor and advise a diverse student body, and contribute meaningfully to student-centered service activities. The position offers the opportunity to design and refine advanced coursework aligned with cardiovascular engineering while fostering interactive, supportive, and outcomes-driven learning environments. The successful candidate's teaching excellence and commitment to student development will play a central role in shaping the academic experience of our students.

Essential Job Duties
Develop, design, and update online course content aligned with learning outcomes and accreditation standards.
Deliver high-quality instruction using a learning management system (e.g., Canvas, Blackboard) and other educational technologies.
Facilitate asynchronous and/or synchronous class sessions, ensuring active student engagement.
Create assessments (quizzes, exams, projects, discussions) that measure student learning effectively.
Provide timely, substantive feedback on assignments and assessments.
Monitor student progress and proactively intervene when academic performance concerns arise.
Maintain regular, responsive communication with students via email, discussion boards, and virtual office hours.
Foster an inclusive, accessible, and supportive online learning environment.
Ensure course materials meet accessibility standards (e.g., ADA compliance, universal design principles).
Uphold academic integrity policies and address violations appropriately.
Maintain accurate grade records and submit required academic reports.
Collaborate with instructional designers and academic support staff to enhance course quality.
Participate in curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Engage in professional development related to online pedagogy and instructional technology.
Contribute to departmental and institutional service activities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field;
Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach courses in the Department's Undergraduate and Graduate curriculum ( https://catalog.colostate.edu/general-catalog/courses-az/mech/ ); and
Demonstrated strong personal and professional commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within our academic community and beyond.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a post-doctoral fellowship in an academic, governmental, or industrial environment;
Track record of high-caliber research appropriate to your professional experience;
Demonstrated ability to secure externally funded research; and
Practical experience teaching Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering courses;
Demonstrated effectiveness in higher education teaching, evidenced through student outcomes, feedback, and/or peer reviews.
Salary Range
13666.67/month
